A Fire Sprinkler Fitter Helper assists the fire sprinkler fitter in the installation, maintenance, and repair of fire sprinkler systems. This entry-level role involves learning the trade, performing basic tasks, and supporting the fitter to ensure efficient and effective system installations and maintenance.

Job Summary:

The Fire Sprinkler Fitter Helper provides assistance to the fire sprinkler fitter by performing basic tasks related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of fire sprinkler systems. This role is designed to provide hands-on training and experience in the fire protection industry, preparing the helper for potential advancement to a fitter position.


Key Responsibilities:


Assist the fire sprinkler fitter in the installation of fire sprinkler systems, including the preparation and handling of pipes, valves, fittings, and other components.

Help in the assembly and disassembly of tools and equipment required for system installation and maintenance.

Carry and move materials and equipment to and from the worksite.

Prepare work areas by cleaning and organizing tools and materials.

Assist in the inspection and testing of fire sprinkler systems to ensure they meet safety standards and regulations.

Learn to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents under the supervision of the fire sprinkler fitter.

Follow safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.

Perform basic maintenance tasks, such as cleaning and lubricating system components.

Support the fitter in troubleshooting and resolving issues related to sprinkler system performance.

Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.

Qualifications:


High school diploma or equivalent.

Willingness to learn and develop skills in the fire protection industry.

Basic understanding of plumbing or mechanical systems is a plus.

Ability to follow instructions and work under the supervision of experienced fitters.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.

Physical ability to perform tasks that involve lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.

Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.

Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.

Working Conditions:


Work may be performed in various settings, including residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.

Tasks may involve working at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying weather conditions.

Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as required.

Physical Requirements:


Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and materials.

Ability to climb ladders, scaffolding, and work at heights.

Manual dexterity and coordination to handle tools and equipment.
