SUMMARY: Provides support to the Shipping Department and Customer Service. Ensures accuracy of shipping orders by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Support needs from 10AM-6PM.
  • Position specific tasks include Route orders; print and collate paperwork for shipping; contact specialty carriers to schedule freight pickups; invoice shippers; internal customer contact; export documentation; specialized & International carrier quotes & coordination; aid purchasing in returns to suppliers; shipment tracing and problem resolution; assists with address reconsignments, backorders, order releases.
  • Investigate customer service issues including overages, damages, shortages, missing shipments; works with customer service, carriers and other department to research and resolve problems and process claims; damage calls from carriers.
  • Stock office supplies.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Minimum 1-2 years of direct experience or two years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge in transportation and import/export preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Customer service training a plus

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Sit at a computer or desk for extended periods of time
  • Frequent walking through the department/building
  • Use hands/arms to operate required equipment and repetitive motion activities
  • Lift objects up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
  • Bend, stoop or crouch while performing daily activities of the job
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to work in a noisy environment
  • Ability to work in an environment with fluctuating temperatures
  • Onsite work location
