Primary Function:

Responsible for developing programs for and operating CMM machines as well as supporting metrology-related activities.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Uses PC DMIS at an advanced level to create programs for CMM machines (including point maps). Runs programs on CMM machines and Vision Systems.
  • Performs First Article dimensional inspections and maintains First Article samples and reports.
  • Identifies the need for gages and fixtures and works with Manufacturing Engineering or outside vendors to provide inputs for build.
  • Conducts measurement system analysis (MSA) to support the part submission process.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Trains Quality Technicians on proper gauging techniques and the use of CMM, Vision Systems, and other Quality related processes.
  • Maintains and updates metrology sample log with current status. Updates APQP workflow.
  • Leads measurement feasibility review for all new parts and print changes and participates in customer meetings as needed.



Requirements:

Required Skills:

Must have advanced experience with PC DMIS++ and the operation of and programming of CMM machines. Minimum 5 years of measurement and inspection experience with strong GD&T. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, algebra, ability to apply critical thinking to perform root cause analysis, excellent verbal and written communication skills, intermediate MS Office, experience in operating and programming Vision Systems, ability to use calipers and micrometers. Must possess strong attention to detail and be familiar with gaging and fixturing for measurement. Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities. Experience training others and documenting instructions. Diplomatic and collaborative with the ability to gain understanding and consensus during technical discussions.

PC DMIS ++, CMM Manager, Measuremind Plus, Measure X, QC Calc, MiniTab, Mitutoyo and Hexagon CMM machines, RAM Sprint vision system. FDA requirements, ISO 9001 and ISO 13485.


Education:

High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent. BA or BS in a technical field or relevant metrology training preferred.
