Warehouse Floater

SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for performing a variety of manual tasks associated with the acquisition, storage, and distribution of food products. The Warehouse Floater assists staff in learning and performing food recovery and packing tasks for the Mid-Ohio Food Collective (MOFC) while providing a high level of customer service to customers. This position will rotate between the various areas as necessary to provide uninterrupted process flow.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Picks and assembles dry/perishable/frozen food orders for pickup by local agencies and deliveries to agencies.
- Loads orders onto trucks for delivery to agencies.
- Completes bill of lading and assigns seal number.
- Shrink wraps and tags skids for delivery.
- Answers questions and provides assistance to staff and customers.
- Unloads donated products picked up by MOFC fleet.
- Unloads purchased products delivered by outside carriers.
- Unloads food donations from food drives and individuals.
- Insures proper documentation and processing.
- Tags and stocks dry/perishable/frozen food onto shelves.
- Provides receipts to food drive donors in distribution.
- Assists with breaks and lunch coverage.
- Assists with restocking frozen food into inventory when orders are cancelled.
- Ensures that first-in first-out methodology is used for each order transaction.
- Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of food distribution areas.
- Use pallets as food is pulled from the shelves.
- Performs general warehouse/operations labor, as requested by manager.
- Participates in special projects at the request of the Operations Managers.
- Works a weekly varied schedule based on MOFC warehouse needs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Education and Certifications: High School Diploma/GED Required. Food Safety Certification (provided by Mid-Ohio Foodbank).
Experience: Minimum of two years of warehouse experience including use of forklift (propane and electric), electric pallet jacks/riders (4ft and 8ft) is required. Previous experience using a cherry picker is strongly preferred. Working knowledge of general warehouse machinery and operations. Knowledge of quality control practices and procedures.
Skills/Competencies: Must have good customer skills and mathematical skills. Ability to work effectively and efficiently both independently and in a team environment.
JOB CONDITIONS:
Working Conditions: Warehouse environment. Safety sensitive position due to regular interaction with heavy machinery. Must be able to: perform moderate to heavy physical labor (lift 30 lbs. frequently and 50 lbs. occasionally). Daily walking, bending, reaching, pushing and pulling (300 lbs. with use of manual pallet jack.). Frequent standing, walking, lifting, carrying, and reaching. Must work in sub-freezing temperatures for extended periods of time. MOFC is a drug-free workplace
Some night and weekend work is required.
