TITLE: Certified Elementary Education Teacher (Kindergarten - Grade 5)


QUALIFICATIONS:    

Bachelor’s Degree

  • Valid Louisiana Teaching Certification for Elementary Education or equivalent 
    • Early Interventionist - Kindergarten or;
    • Grades 1-6
  • Willingness to be trained and coached in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies


JOB GOAL: Supervised by the Principal and Program Director, the Certified Special Education Teacher adeptly oversees the learning environment through lesson planning, student instruction, performance evaluation, and fostering academic and emotional growth.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 11 Month 


PERFORMANCE EVALUATION: Annually


COMPENSATION: Starting Salary $45,000 


PERFORMANCE/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach content area curriculum to groups of 8 to 9 students in rotating classroom pods for 30 to 45 minutes
  • Develop annotated lesson plans aligned with adopted scope and sequence documents
  • Maintain high expectations and rigor in instruction
  • Provide specialized instruction based on students' IEP goals
  • Coordinate with related services providers for IEP services
  • Implement behavior strategies rooted in Applied Behavior Analysis
  • Utilize classroom management techniques for safety and productivity
  • Employ instructional techniques to motivate students
  • Evaluate student performance and document progress towards IEP goals
  • Inform parents and students about curriculum and lesson data
  • Collaborate with classroom team including para and behavior specialists
  • Ensure support staff follow ACE instructional model
  • Provide daily feedback to support staff
  • Participate in observations and coaching sessions
  • Modify materials for student needs and IEP requirements
  • Prepare substitute plans for teacher absences
  • Adhere to instructional requirements set by ACE, Louisiana DOE, BESE, and Federal regulations
  • Fulfill all duties as per ACE faculty member guidelines
  • Collect, analyze, and report data effectively
  • Celebrate student achievements
  • Perform other assigned administrative duties


PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain professional appearance as per ACE dress code
  • Attend work punctually and notify absences in advance
  • Efficiently complete tasks like lesson plans, IEPs, data collection within deadlines
  • Hold IEP meetings within specified timelines
  • Schedule meetings on Wednesdays after 1:00 PM
  • Ensure all IEPs have necessary signatures and are error-free
  • File IEPs with Special Education Coordinator within 10 days
  • Consistently perform duties, manage time effectively, and care for equipment
  • Approach situations with optimism and perseverance
  • Communicate courteously with parents, colleagues, and contacts
  • Attend meetings and professional development sessions
  • Maintain professionalism, accept feedback, and apply suggestions
  • Demonstrate competence in responsibilities
  • Submit required documentation by specified dates
  • Show mastery and enthusiasm for autism education and ABA best practices
  • Coordinate tasks independently and exercise judgment
  • Maintain confidentiality and obtain CPI and CPR certification
  • Perform other duties assigned by administration

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Positions in this class require: stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.


LIGHT WORK:

Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. 


WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is routinely performed in an indoor and outdoor classroom setting.
