Summary of Position

The Harvest Associate III serves in the pistachio grading operation during the annual pistachio

harvest. The Harvest Associate III performs a variety of established functions to grade and process

pistachio samples used to calculate compensation to Grower Partners. The Harvest Associate III plays

a vital role in the over-all goals of the Harvest Operations Department.

Maintenance Helpers

• Perform basic mechanic and maintenance tasks.

• Use the correct and appropriate tool for each mechanic task.

• Utilize cleaning and supplies specific to assigned area to accomplish sanitation tasks.

• Prepare equipment and chemicals for use in cleaning and sanitizing in huller equipment and machinery.

Load Coordinator

• Keep assigned areas of responsibility clean and well organized.

• Guide trucks into weighing area.

• Monitor load placement on scales.

• Label trailer with grower information.

Sanitation

• Prepare equipment and chemicals for use in sanitizing of huller a machinery.

• Utilize equipment and supplies specific to assigned are to accomplish sanitation tasks.

• Ensure huller and machinery is always maintained.

Crew Boss

• Mentor Harvest Associates by setting a good example and encouraging employees to follow safe and effective

harvest practices.

• Conduct daily headcount at the beginning of shift to Agency Rep and WPA HR Rep.

• Conduct daily walk through to ensure all EEs follow proper safety, GMP and Operations procedures as well as

provide and enforce proper PPE.

• Escalate any EE conflicts to the Agency Reps.

• Crew boss should only be involved in agency HR admin work at the hullers. (EX. Attestations missed punch forms

or paychecks and any EE conflicts).

• Create schedules for EEs in the area assigned as well as monitor if EE’s follow break policy.

• Follow direction from Huller/Pit Supervisor as per operation needs and escalate any issues that might arise.

Huller Operators

• Ensure all product is flowing through properly to the next designated area.

• Escalate any issues that might arise.

• Remove all debris as needed.

• Maintain machinery continuously running.

Critical Skills

• All “Task Level I” Critical Skills.

• Work effectively on a team to accomplish tasks or goals.

• Consistently follow standard work and standard operating procedures.

• Organize tasks and execute assignments.

Functional Skills

• Safely operate all job-related machinery and equipment required for the performance of assigned tasks.

• Keep assigned areas of responsibility clean and well organized.

• Work together with a team of associates when performing duties and responsibilities.

• Apply common sense understanding when performing written or oral instructions.

• Complete required documents accurately, and in a timely manner (if applicable).

• Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in English and/or Spanish.

• Bilingual in English/Spanish (preferred but not required).

• Communicate issues or concerns to supervisor in a timely manner.

• Knowledge of basic mathematical functions specific to addition and subtraction (preferred, but not

required).

• Entry level computer skills (preferred but not required).

• Attend safety meetings and other departmental or company related meetings as assigned.

• Participate in all “Lock Out-Tag Out” (LOTO) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) events and trainings.

• Observe all “Good Manufacturing Practices” (GMPs) as specified by the Company’s food safety policy.

• Perform additional duties as assigned. (May also be asked to perform “Task Level I” duties as

needed).


Education / Experience

• High school diploma or general education diploma (GED) recommended.

• 1-2 years of related experience recommended.

• Training provided.
