Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Cloud Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of our cloud-based database systems. This role requires expertise in database administration, cloud computing platforms, and a strong understanding of data management principles. The Cloud DBA will work closely with our development, operations, and security teams to ensure optimal database performance, reliability, and security.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and maintain cloud-based database solutions, ensuring high levels of performance, availability, and security.

Configure and optimize database parameters to ensure optimal performance and resource utilization.

Monitor and troubleshoot database performance issues, including query optimization, indexing, and resource contention.

Implement and maintain database backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability.

Manage database security, including user access control, data encryption, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Collaborate with development teams to design and implement database schemas, stored procedures, and data migration scripts.

Work closely with operations teams to automate database deployments, scaling, and maintenance tasks.

Implement and enforce database best practices, standards, and procedures.

Perform database software upgrades and patches in a timely manner, minimizing downtime and impact on operations.

Monitor database capacity and resource usage, forecasting and planning for future growth.

Document database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for knowledge sharing and training purposes.

Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in cloud-based database administration.

Manage SQL Server databases through multiple product lifecycle environments (Development, Testing and Production).

Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.

Independently analyse, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.

Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes

Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement.

Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours.

Skills and Qualifications

5+ years DBA experience required

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

Proven experience as a Database Administrator, preferably in a cloud-based environment.

Must worked on cloud infrastructure, Databricks, Azure and data pipeline

Hands-on experience with cloud database platforms such as Azure SQL Database, Amazon RDS, or Google Cloud SQL.

Proficiency in SQL query optimization, database tuning, and performance monitoring tools.

Strong understanding of database security principles and best practices.

Experience with database backup and recovery solutions, including automated backups and point-in-time recovery.

Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash.

Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with a strong attention to detail.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or AWS Certified Database - Specialty are a plus.
