Benjamin Franklin Cummings Institute of Technology (Franklin Cummings Tech) is a private, non-profit, two-year technical college located in Boston. Requirements:

Key Responsibilities:


The external and internal appearance of the building reflects on the occupants. It is important for a custodian to be careful and thorough in working, cleaning, and tidying the premises. The ideal candidate will be experienced in a custodian role focused on building upkeep with a keen eye for detail and diligence are imperative.

· Clean the interior of the buildings including floors, carpet, rugs, windows and walls

· Disinfect commonly used items such as desks, door handles, office tools and phones

· Maintain cleaning inventory, placing orders for new products when needed

· Maintain outdoor grounds, cut grass and trim bushes

· Remove debris and snow from sidewalks

· Empty trash and recycling bins daily

· Stock and maintain supply rooms

· Perform minor repairs around the college such as replace light bulbs, etc.

· Utilize insecticides to prevent infestation by dangerous pests

· Vacuum, sweep and mop floors

· Clean and maintain restrooms

· Wash and clean windows and mirrors

· Notify the Director of Facilities and Campus Safety of unsafe conditions

· Dust furniture and fixtures

· Setup and cleanup for events and activities. Review schedule and be aware of when events are happening.

· Secure facilities after operating hours by locking doors, closing windows and setting up the alarm


Requirements and skills:


· Proven experience as custodian, janitor or in a similar role

· Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances

· Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous components

· Familiarity with basic landscaping and handyman practices

· Attention to detail and conscientiousness

· Ability to left 25 pounds to chest height

· High school diploma
