It is important for a custodian to be careful and thorough in working, cleaning, and tidying the premises. The ideal candidate will be experienced in a custodian role focused on building upkeep with a keen eye for detail and diligence are imperative.•Clean the interior of the buildings including floors, carpet, rugs, windows and walls•Disinfect commonly used items such as desks, door handles, office tools and phones•Maintain cleaning inventory, placing orders for new products when needed•Maintain outdoor grounds, cut grass and trim bushes•Remove debris and snow from sidewalks•Empty trash and recycling bins daily•Stock and maintain supply rooms•Perform minor repairs around the college such as replace light bulbs, etc.•Utilize insecticides to prevent infestation by dangerous pests•Vacuum, sweep and mop floors•Clean and maintain restrooms•Wash and clean windows and mirrors•Notify the Director of Facilities and Campus Safety of unsafe conditions•Dust furniture and fixtures•Setup and cleanup for events and activities. Review schedule and be aware of when events are happening.•Secure facilities after operating hours by locking doors, closing windows and setting up the alarmRequirements and skills:•Proven experience as custodian, janitor or in a similar role•Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances•Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous components•Familiarity with basic landscaping and handyman practices•Attention to detail and conscientiousness•Ability to left 25 pounds to chest height•High school diploma
