Hilton Marco Island Resort and Spa is currently seeking a dynamic Recreation Manager to join the best team on Marco Island

POSITION PURPOSE:

To oversee and manage all facets of the Recreation Department, to include all kids programs, Fitness Center and Pool operations, as well as working closely with Water Sports on the beach. The Recreation Department will provide quality kids recreation programs and guest activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage and motivate Recreation Team Members, as well as directly overseeing the Fitness Center, - staffing, training, discipline, scheduling, and programming.
  • To ensure adherence to all hotel standards and to provide guests satisfaction while limiting hotel liability.
  • Plan and facilitate monthly departmental meetings.
  • Visually observe performance and coach team members to ensure compliance with hotel policies, procedures, safety, uniforms, job standards, sanitation, personal hygiene, and guest relations.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee the Recreation Programs for social and group guests by working extensively with the Sales Managers, as well as Meeting Planners.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee kids activities program.
  • Assist guests in the proper usage of the exercise equipment.
  • Listen to and resolve all guest and team members concerns to ensure satisfaction of the parties involved.
  • Develop and oversee the maintenance programs for all equipment in the Recreation Department.
  • Ensure all areas of the Fitness center and Pool are clean, sanitized, and restocked with supplies.
  • Develop, oversee, and control the budget within the Recreation Department to include revenues, payroll, and expenses.
  • Work closely with the Rooms Division Director in budgeting and purchasing all capital expenditures

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the Rooms Division Director based upon the particular requirements of the hotel.

OTHER:

Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. All employees are required to fully comply with the rules and standards set forth by the Hilton Marco Island Beach Resort and Spa, Olshan Properties and Hilton Hotels Corporation.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:

  • The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he/she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without
  • reasonable accommodations, using some other combination of skills and ability.
  • Possess basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology as they apply to exercise and related elements of nutrition.
  • Posses experience and basic knowledge of recreation operations, including sales and marketing plans, security and safety programs, personnel and labor relations, preparation of business plans, budget forecasting and management, housekeeping, OSHA regulations associated with chemical usage and working environment, quality assurance programs, and the administration of services, i.e. water sports and optional activities, and the development of long-range planning.
  • Possess leadership skills to motivate and develop staff and to ensure accomplishment of goals.
  • Ability to set priorities, plan, organize, and to delegate assignments to accomplish tasks, often within strict time limitations.
  • Ability to read, write, hear, speak and understands the English language to communicate with management and staff--being persuasive, clear and to the point.
  • Written communication skills to be concise, well organized, complete, clear and understandable in order to formulate complex reports and communicate with the public, staff, corporate offices, and the general manager.
  • Possess considerable knowledge of mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) to create and maintain budgets, cost analysis reports, calculate trends in guest and team member opinion reports, etc.
  • Ability to remain calm in emergency situations and to effectively work with the internal and external guests, some of whom require patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger, and provide positive and proactive solutions.
  • Ability to travel to various sites on and off the hotel property, while maintaining contact with the hotel, to perform essential job duties.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

Education:

High School graduate or equivalent. College degree in Recreation preferred. Any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Experience:

Previous Recreational Supervisory experience preferred. Hotel or resort experience preferred. Fitness Center and Beach operations experience preferred.
