SUMMARY: Maintains ALEC’s information systems and service desk. The Systems Administrator administers the credit unions networks, server, and cloud-based systems under the direction of the Manager of IT Infrastructure. Works directly with other IT/IS representatives to secure, implement, and maintain ALEC’s Information Systems. This individual will act as the IT areas’ technical subject matter expert when it comes to ALEC Information Systems. The individual will actively manage the IT Service Desk to ensure co-worker information technology requests are properly addressed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Installs, administers, secures and maintains the server, and server room environments for high performance and availability
  • Works with other System Administrator(s) in maintaining, building, configuring, deploying, installing and modifying the credit unions server infrastructure
  • Under the direction of the Manager of IT Infrastructure, manages the credit unions virtual solution
  • Supports the Disaster Recovery location for optimal performance in the event of scheduled and unscheduled failover. Works with other IT teams as needed to perform periodic testing and preventive maintenance
  • Maintains and monitors the credit union’s network equipment
  • Upon direction from the Manager of IT Infrastructure, coordinates installation of system and major application upgrades
  • Works with Information Security to establish and support the credit unions backup schedules. Administers server backups; ensures backups occur as scheduled and that data from backup targets can be reliably restored as needed
  • Provides technical support and guidance to end users
  • Main participant of the IT Service Desk to triage co-worker requests
  • Works with Information Security area to harden ALEC’s networks including the management of firewalls
  • Under the direction of the Manager of IT Infrastructure, evaluates and recommends purchasing of new servers, storage, computers or other peripherals
  • Monitors server and network related performance metrics as assigned and reports performance deficiencies to management
  • Performs Infrastructure troubleshooting and aids with problem remediation
  • May serve as an escalation point for staff members including Service Desk requests
  • Participates in on-call rotation as scheduled and directed by the Manager of IT Infrastructure
  • Diagnoses, troubleshoots, and resolves hardware, software, or other network and system problems in collaboration with vendor support
  • Creates and maintains area support documentation including procedures
  • Maintains and supports audio visual and phone systems
  • Diagnoses and remediates network communication issues
  • Administers credit union’s wireless network architecture
  • Responsible to analyze, configure, update, patch and cycle cred union’s hardware as directed.
  • Utilizes network monitoring tools to monitor network traffic, anomalies, and capacity
  • Works with Manager of IT Infrastructure and other System Administrator(s) to establish a hardware cycle schedule for all servers, switches, routers, and server room equipment
  • Responsible for maintaining a professional look and feel of information systems, including cable management and preventative maintenance of equipment
  • Other duties as may be assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education Required: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Education Preferred: CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, ITIL, CISSP, CISM, CISA certifications
  • Experience Required: Three (3) years of experience in an IT role
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
  • Ability to perform job functions independently
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to verbally communicate effectively with internal and/or external members
  • Ability to use computers and job-specific technology/software efficiently
  • Maintains confidentiality
  • Performs responsibilities with composure, quality and accuracy under stress of deadlines/requirements
