The Parker Jewish Institute for Healthcare and Rehabilitation, located in New Hyde Park, NY, is seeking a Volunteer and Bereavement Coordinator to join our team and play a key role in the directing and organizing of Parker's Comprehensive Community Hospice Volunteer and Bereavement Programs.


Community and Inpatient Hospice at Parker Jewish Institute provides comfort, relief, and peace of mind to individuals with advanced or life-limiting illness and their families. We are an intimate and unique not-for-profit program that provides personalized care to ensure the comfort, enhance the quality of life, and preserve the dignity of our patients.


In this role, you will be responsible for the recruitment, selection, orientation, assignment, and ongoing supervision of the volunteers in Parker's Hospice Volunteer program. In addition, the Coordinator will be responsible for all bereavement activities including family mailings, home visits, and support group meetings and maintaining a library of resource material for volunteers and family members. You will interact and collaborate with families to determine the need for new volunteer services, and provide community outreach to expand volunteer opportunities for the program, among other related duties.


This position is a key administrative role within the organization, with the ability to make an impact and offers a significant personal and professional opportunity to join a world-renowned health care organization. Position Qualifications:

  • College Degree

  • 3-5 years of coordination experience in a related field

  • Prior experience supervising volunteers a plus

  • Prior experience working in a hospice or community health setting a plus

  • Experience in a health care or not for profit setting; prior experience in hospice a plus

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills

  • Fully vaccinated against COVID-19
