SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

At Lightshare Behavioral Wellness & Recovery, the HIV Specialist is responsible for delivering compassionate and expert medical care to patients diagnosed with HIV/AIDS. This role is crucial in managing patient treatment plans, monitoring progress, and providing education to ensure patients understand their health management strategies. The specialist is also expected to participate in Lightshare’s community outreach initiatives to enhance awareness and prevention of HIV.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and manage both acute and chronic HIV infections, as well as associated complications.

  • Prescribe, monitor, and manage antiretroviral therapy (ART) and other medications, tailoring treatments to individual patient needs.

  • Regularly assess patient response to treatment, making necessary adjustments to optimize health outcomes.

  • Provide empathetic counseling and comprehensive education to patients regarding HIV prevention, treatment options, and lifestyle management.

  • Conduct consistent follow-up appointments to evaluate health progress and treatment adherence.

  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team at Lightshare, including nurses, counselors, and social workers, to ensure a coordinated approach to patient care.

  • Stay updated with the latest developments in HIV research and integrate new, evidence-based practices into patient treatment plans.

  • Engage in Lightshare’s community programs to educate the public about HIV prevention and treatment, aiming to reduce stigma and promote healthy communities.

  • Maintain meticulous and confidential records of patient interactions, treatments, and outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Medical degree from an accredited medical school.

  • Valid state medical license.

  • Board certification in infectious diseases with a specialized focus on HIV/AIDS management.

  • Proven clinical experience in HIV/AIDS care within a healthcare setting.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide sensitive and effective patient-centered communication.
