Under the general direction of the Aquatics Director, the Swim Lesson Coordinator is responsible to maintain the high quality of the aquatics swim lesson programs, a strong customer service culture, and a safe aquatic environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Assists in supervision of aquatic instructors and conducts parent orientations to swim lessons, completes and distributes participants welcome letters.
• Assists Director with YMCA aquatics programs, camp swim lessons, regular programs, special groups, pilot swim lesson programs and grant swim lessons.
• Maintain an active presence during swim programs and camp lessons to ensure that there is ongoing and effective communication with participants and exceptional member service.
• Maintains scheduled hours and when needed teach group or private swim lessons.
• Assist in scheduling private lessons and maintaining private lesson records.
• Tracks rosters and reports of swim lesson participants.
• Adhere to policies related to boundaries with members, volunteers, staff, and participants.
• Attend required Abuse Risk Management training and adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising members and participants.
• Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations and follow mandated abuse reporting procedures.
• Office administration emails, phone calls, filing, and copying.
• Provide program assistance to all members, and staff, including assistance with staff trainings.
• Maintains accurate records and forms for the department (chemical log, swim test sheets and swim lesson rosters, aquatics certifications, welcome letters, and progress reports).
• Communicate with instructor staff to keep them informed and engaged.
• Works collectively with the director to ensure the needs of the department are met.
• Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, best practices, and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures, supporting the associations’ philanthropy efforts. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
• The position is identified as safety sensitive and subjected to required, random drug testing as scheduled.
• All other duties, as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Must have a CPR/AED and First Aid Certification OR get certified within 90 days of employment.
• HS/GED with some college preferred.
• Minimum three years’ experience instructing swimming lessons.
• Current YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor or American Red Cross WSI or to obtain within 6 months of employment.
• Computer Skills Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Publisher)
• Excellent human relation and decision-making skills, good organizational and communication skills

HOURLY PAY RATE: $18.00-$20.00

WORK SCHEDULE:

• June to August (Summer Schedule): -Monday-Thursday (10:00am-3:00pm) & Saturday (8:00am-2:00pm)
• September to May: - Monday-Thursday (3:00pm-9:00pm) & Saturday (8:00am-2:00pm)
