At Action Traffic Maintenance, we strive to maintain the efficiency and productivity of the projects within the organization. We look to our divisions to organize and manage multiple construction projects, including reviewing plans and budgets and scheduling, organizing, and controlling assigned projects.

We are looking for an Intern to assist our Project Managers; this role will teach the primary functions of the full-life-cycle project management within the role of a Project Manager here at Action Traffic.

Action Traffic's collegiate internship provides real work experience, networking opportunities, and professional growth.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assists the Division Project Manager in leading a team to complete an assigned project on time, to specifications, and accurately while ensuring efficiency.
  • Respond to correspondence (phone, email, etc.) with a high degree of accuracy and timeliness.
  • Assist and learn how to outline the project's tasks and delegate accordingly.
  • Assists and learns how to conduct risk assessments; reports identified risks to management; provides recommendations for mitigating risk.
  • Assists with following the project schedule, incorporating dates, procurement of materials and subcontracts, lead times for fabrication, and field installation, is established and maintained
  • Assists in preparing external and internal reports on job status, daily progress, estimates, and deliverables.
  • Meet with Division Project Managers to review projects daily to ensure quality construction standards and estimates.
  • Work under deadlines in a fast-paced environment to plan and assists the project manager in coordinating all aspects of the project, including the ability to adjust quickly to complete a project according to the contract.
  • Occasional travel may be required to review projects throughout the State.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Minimum Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in school pursuing a Certification, Associate, Bachelor, or Master's degree, preferably in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Building Construction, but will accept all concentrations.
  • At Action Traffic's discretion may consider an alternative combination of formal education and work experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal skills obtaining buy-in, and reaching consensus through collaborative efforts.
  • Customer-oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to assess situations, solve problems, and work effectively under stress, within deadlines, and in emergencies.
  • Respond to correspondence (phone, email, etc.) with a high degree of accuracy and timeliness.
  • Skill in assembling and analyzing data and preparing accurate reports.
  • Skill in using office equipment and technology, including but not limited to; Microsoft Suite applications and other software applications utilized by Action Traffic Maintenance.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, sit, walk, climb, use hands and fingers, talk, hear and view, and create written documents-the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment. The employee must lift or push/pull objects of up to 25 lbs. without assistance. Accommodation may be made, as needed, for employees required to lift or move objects that exceed this weight.

While performing the duties of this job, they may work near moving mechanical equipment and are exposed to weather conditions & uneven terrain and to fumes or airborne particles and noxious odors when out on the road. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud.
