Job DescriptionJob Description

Boston Eye Surgery & Laser Center (BESLC) has a great opportunity open for a Certified Scrub Technician for our Waltham surgery center 30 hours per week.  No nights No weekends

Schedule: 30 hours: 3 (10 hr.) shifts per week.  Mon-Fri. Hours are 7:00 AM- 5:30 PM

The Scrub Technician will directly assist the surgeon, with the guidance of the circulating registered nurse, in rendering professional care to patients undergoing ophthalmic surgical procedures. Functions cooperatively within the surgical team. Maintains strict aseptic technique during set up, draping and during surgical procedure. Follows OR procedure for proper decontamination of instruments, equipment and room turnover.

Qualifications:

  • Surgical Technician certification required
  • High school diploma or equivalency required
  • One or more years of related work experience in operating room preferred
  • Strong communication skills
  • Maintains Basic Cardiac Life Support certification
  • Membership in surgical specialty society encouraged
  • Maintains and complies with patient confidentiality and integrity policy on all matters

Physical Demands:

Frequent tasks: lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, handling, reaching, and twisting of weights ranging from light to heavy at heights from the foot to above the head.  Ability to manipulate small instruments.

Mobility:  walking up to 8-10 hours, standing 3-8 hours, stooping, bending, balancing, climbing, crouching, and sitting.
