JOB TITLE: PORTER

LOCATION: GALVESTON / BRAZORIA COUNTIES

EXMPLOYMENT STATUS FULL-TIME, NON-EXEMPT, BENEFITS ELIGIBLE

SUMMARY

The porter will provide support services to GCTD vehicles and their aesthetic appearances inside and outside of the vehicle. The porter will be responsible for providing sanitation services inside and outside of vehicles.

REQUIRED JOB DUTIES, ABILITIES, TRAITS

  • Assists in audits
  • Completing and or submitting vehicle checklists and cleaning of GCTD vehicles
  • Notification to the fleet manager, transportation manager, or director of operations of any problems with the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle
  • Ensure vehicles are maintained appropriately and comply with safety standards to include sanitation of the inside and outside of vehicles
  • Maintain documentation according to GCTD policies and procedures
  • Submit vehicle records and reports to the fleet manager, transportation manager, or director of transportation when required or requested
  • Submit incident or accident reports within 24 hours to the fleet manager, transportation manager, or director of operations
  • Responsible for light and minor repairs to vehicles and reporting repair needs to lead porter and or manager
  • Will be responsible and accountable for the adherence to and promotion of the GCTD policies and procedures and will require communication with various departments and co-workers to foster, develop and continue our community partnerships as it relates to the position

SUPERVISION

  • Receives direct supervision from the mechanic fleet manager

REQUIRED EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma, GED, or extensive experience in lieu of education will be evaluated as it relates to the position. Any education or experience above the required education and job duties of the position are preferred and will be evaluated as it relates to experience

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • English proficiency
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Requires proficiency with computer hardware and software to include Microsoft Office applications, using a computer with a keyboard and mouse, navigation with a web browser, checking and sending email, and use of internet search engines
  • Strong communication, organizational, analytical, time management, problem-solving, and planning skills

PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Any education or experience above the required education and job duties of the position are preferred and will be evaluated as it relates to experience

REQUIRED LICENSURE & CERTIFICATIONS

  • Active and current DOT medical card
  • At minimum active and valid vehicle liability insurance
  • No more than 3 moving or safety violations within the past 3 years
  • Requires an active and valid Texas driver’s license

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • May require travel to various locations within Brazoria and Galveston Counties
  • Work hours will be assigned based on GCTD business needs and may include varied work hours, weekends, holidays, irregular hours, mornings, evenings, split shifts, and overtime
  • Out of region travel may be required to attend training
  • Work will be performed in the office, field, and or remote settings

SPECIAL PROJECTS

  • Assist lead porters, bus operators, managers, dispatchers, or directors when requested to complete special projects and complete all assignments within a negotiated time frame
  • Completion of other duties as assigned by supervisor as it relates to the program and position
