Program Manager Job Description


Qualifications: The individual selected for the Program Manager at Parkwood Day School at Leawood United Methodist Church should be a person desiring to work with children, families, and staff members in the field of Early Childhood. The applicant should have a minimum of an Associate’s degree in the field of Early Childhood or related field and have experience within Early Childhood.


Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:


General:

  1. Program Manager is responsible to the Program Director and Executive Directors.
  2. Function as part of the total program staff to promote a positive working environment based on team work and cooperation.
  3. Report any inappropriate behavior or suspected abuse to Director immediately and work within the guidelines of mandatory reporting.
  4. Attend yearly in-service trainings or enroll in college courses or other continued education courses to achieve a total of 16 KDHE approved hours.
  5. Attend weekly administrative staff meeting.
  6. Attend monthly program staff meetings.
  7. Attend all school functions outside classroom and specials.
  8. Keep confidential any information about children, parents, and staff.
  9. Participate in professional organizations
  10. Participate in on-going self-performance evaluation
  11. Support Parkwood Day School in meeting the requirements of state licensing regulations.


Administration:

  1. Aide in the development of philosophies and procedures within the program.
  2. Aide in creation and implementation of Curriculum guidelines within the program.
  3. Routine classroom check/maintenance
  4. Coordinate field trips: working with the community, staff, families, and church.
  5. Volunteer Coordinator: Implement volunteer opportunities within the classrooms, train volunteers for specific tasks.
  6. Plan Appreciation Events, working with church, staff, and families.
  7. Research and maintain Teacher’s resources
  8. Create and distribute the monthly program newsletter with the help of the Program Director.
  9. Update Parent Information Board monthly, or as needed
  10. Aide in the organization of the office, classrooms, and interest areas
  11. Develop the schedule for special events, field trips, and visitors with the help of the Program Director.


Relationships:

  1. Be a professional representative of the school, church and families of the program.
  2. Support teachers and parents in building positive relationships.
  3. Promote parent participation in the program.
  4. Notify parents if a child becomes ill and/or needs medical attention, and report all incidents to the Program Director in her absence.
  5. Work with the Director and Children’s Ministry Coordinator with sharing space.
  6. Address any concerns with parents, staff, and church in partnership with the Director and executive Administration.


The Program Manager will work approximately 40 hours per week. The work schedule will be set on a weekly basis and be determined by the school calendar.
