About The Role:
We are looking for a Director of Engineering based in Malden, MA to join our talented and diverse team. This position will focus on leading our Malden lab-based technical service team in direct support of our customers. The Global Technical Service team directly works with our customers to solve their biggest challenges. We support our customers from prototype through to mass production and this position will play a leading role in providing efficient, effective technical support across their team and in collaboration with our global team. This role will also rely on building strong relationships and partnerships with decision makers at our customers and providing innovative solutions.
Candidate should have experience in a relevant field (electronics, materials, coatings, etc.). Need someone who can provide leadership on how to work directly with customers, work with the VP on strategic planning for that support, and continue to drive us towards deeper technical understanding. They will directly lead the Malden team, but will also work with our global technical services team as a support function.
Given the compensation we can provide, we are likely targeting individuals with less management experience which is okay. If they can demonstrate project management, and either direct or indirect people management, that is a starting point.
Qualifications & Responsibilities
We are looking for candidates with a M.S., or PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or Electrical Engineering and 5+ years of relevant industry experience. Previous experience in technical support and customer relations is required. Technical project management experience is preferred. Previous experience in electronics or automotive manufacturing industries is a plus.
The candidate must:
- Team Leadership: Lead the Malden-based technical service team, ensuring customer-focused support and guidance.
- Customer Engagement: Engage directly with key decision makers, from factory floor personnel to program managers, to secure opportunities and exemplify exceptional technical service.
- Global Collaboration: Work with our global team to develop account strategies and provide innovative solutions that meet customer needs and drive sales.
- Technical Guidance: Mentor and guide the technical service team in initiatives such as coating customer samples, validation testing, and failure analysis.
- Project Management: Design and lead technical projects based on market and customer feedback to proactively address industry challenges.
- Knowledge Transfer: Collaborate with headquarters to transfer new coating and application methodologies to regional teams and customers. Communicate field application techniques and insights from customer factories to the broader team.
- Process Improvement: Enhance processes in collaboration with global technical service management to ensure efficient support and knowledge transfer across the dispersed team.
- Travel: Participate in required travel to both US and global customer locations.
This is a fulltime permanent role onsite in Malden, MA.
Compensation is around $160K plus 10% variable bonus and full benefits.
