    We're looking for a laboratory testing professional with strong initiative, great communication skills, a commitment to client service, and a passion for mentoring staff to lead our AMRL-accredited construction materials testing laboratory in Meridian, Idaho.


    Position responsibilities may include:

    • Promote, sustain, and demonstrate CMT's values and safety commitment.
    • Responsible for making sure project deadlines are met by providing proper scheduling, coordination, and organization of items to be tested and available resources.
    • Responsible to perform routine to complex lab testing including soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and grout materials.
    • Responsible for performing the testing, documentation, computations, and quality review in accordance with CMT's Quality System Manual, applicable testing specifications, and the professional standard of care.
    • Ensures that laboratory equipment is properly maintained and calibrated in accordance with internal procedures.
    • Maintenance of CMT's laboratory accreditations.
    • Prudently manages resources and staff to ensure efficiency and quality.
    • Provides support on marketing and proposal efforts as required.
    • Experienced in establishing and maintaining relationships through excellent communication, professionalism, and client service focus to both internal and external clients.
    • Supervise operational personnel (laboratory staff), including resource coordination, internal quality control, and management of deliverables.
    • Communicate with clients, staff, and supervisors to successfully and profitably deliver laboratory services on a consistent basis.
    • Provide technical leadership and guidance for staff.
    • Represent CMT with local and national professional organizations.

    Consideration for this position requires the following certifications or experience:

    • At least 5 years of experience with laboratory testing of construction materials.
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience managing a construction materials testing laboratory.
    • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and ability to pass drug test.
    • High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • Ability to work independently and as a team member, maintaining composure, and working effectively in a high-pressure environment with changing priorities.
    • Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
    • Able to use a company provided computer and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and proprietary information management systems .
    • Organization and multi-tasking ability.
    • A good work ethic, attention to detail, and high level of personal integrity.
    • Authorization to work in the United States.

    In addition to the above required certifications and experience, hiring preference will be given to those with the following certifications or experience:

    • Associates degree or higher in construction technology, construction management, or related field.
    • Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) testing certifications.
    • American Concrete Institute (ACI) certifications:
      • Aggregate Testing Technician - Level 1 or 2
      • Aggregate/Soils Base Testing Technician
      • Concrete Laboratory Testing Technician Level 1 or 2
      • Concrete Strength Testing Technician
      • Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade 1
    • National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET):
      • Construction Materials Testing: Asphalt, Concrete, Soils (Levels I, II, or III)
    • Nuclear density gauge safety, handling, operation, and transporting training/certification.
    • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) or Fundamental of Engineering (FE) certification
