The ideal candidate will be a problem-solver with strong communication skills and a readiness to learn.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Professional Licensing: Obtain and maintain Professional Engineering licensure.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Engineers and/or Engineering Supervisors.
    • Set clear expectations, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance evaluations.
    • Foster a positive and productive team environment that encourages collaboration, learning, and growth.
    • Address employee relations issues within the Engineering department and assist HR with staffing needs, personnel issues, and implementing department policies and procedures.
    • Coordinate employee work schedules with other supervisors and management within the D+E department.
  • Projects and Design:
    • Review calculations and drawings to ensure they meet the necessary standards for stamping.
    • Ensure safe structures, working conditions, quality products, and satisfied customers by collaborating with all departments within the company.
    • Interpret Architectural/Structural plans and perform required calculations to ensure structural integrity.
    • Oversee a project design team, ensuring project milestones are met and deliverables are successful for internal and external customers.
    • Identify potential issues with project schedules and quality, and propose solutions with internal teams.
    • Assist the team with unfamiliar designs and responsibilities to find optimal solutions.
    • Collaborate with internal departments to find the best solutions and coordinate with Contractors/Engineers/Architects/Owners as required.
    • Provide engineering support for sales staff on prospective jobs.
    • Visit manufacturing facilities and construction sites as needed.
    • Address concerns and issues during any project phase and make timely, educated decisions based on needs and requirements.
    • Prepare fixes for errors that occur on projects and work with the production team on facility and manufacturing requests.
    • Complete special projects as requested and perform other duties as assigned.

Education, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering or a comparable ABET-accredited degree.
  • PE License required.
  • 10+ years of experience in precast design preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software

Physical Requirements / ADA Essential Functions:

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for typing, filing, and using office equipment.
  • Visual acuity for reading small print.
  • Hearing acuity for effective communication.
  • Ability to lift and move office supplies and equipment.
  • Mobility to move around the office as needed.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and the ability to operate a motor vehicle.

Working Conditions:

  • Moderate to high risk of exposure to unusual elements and safety precautions.
  • General office environment with moderate to high exposure to jobsite conditions.
  • Intermittent field/jobsite visits will require safety precautions and may involve exposure to harsh weather.
