Job DescriptionJob Description

This is a 40-hour/week position, with a competitive salary included. The selected candidate will be responsible for assisting the ESE Teacher with preparing and providing academic lessons in the School Day Program (5-12). The position works very closely and in conjunction with the ESE Teacher and Conductor of the School Day Program, under the supervision of the Program Director.

 

Qualifications:

 

·      AA degree or equivalent education

·      Experience working  in an educative setting is preferred

·      Knowledge and experience in differentiated instructional methods used with individuals with physical and cognitive disabilities including materials/equipment used in group settings; principles of child development, education and behavior of individual participants; positive discipline and redirection techniques.

·      VECHs Level 2 Background check required

 

 Physical Requirements:


Physical/mental stamina with ability to regularly and/or repetitively lift 60 lbs. or more. Consistent ability to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, sit, carry, push or pull objects, equipment and or students. Ability to perceive/discriminate sounds in the environment.

Responsibilities:

·      Assist teacher in creating a climate of acceptance and learning for all students.

·      Follow safety protocol for all students as provided in school/student protocols

·      Perform teacher duties in absence of the teacher, including, but not limited to following substitute lesson plans as provided, and leading other staff in the classroom.

·      Implement lesson plans and individual student goals and objectives pursuant to Teacher direction.

·      Assist with tracking student progress of individual goals.

·      Conduct individual instructional and small group interventions in academic subjects

·      Utilize and ensure consistent implementation of behavior techniques and classroom management techniques and data collection.

·      Utilize and adapt developmentally appropriate and engaging curricula and instructional materials in order to ensure access for all students.

·      Ensure and provide basic caregiving duties (utilizing universal health and safety precautions) for children, including, but not limited to changing diapers, feeding children, and cleaning children’s hands, faces, etc.

·      Timely completion of incident reports to appropriate supervisor.

·      Assist in the communication with other instructional staff

·      Maintain positive staff and parent interactions and communication.

·      Ensure the School Administrator and Instructional Staff is informed of all parent and individual student concerns and complaints.

·      Participate in required meetings and training.

·      Ensure compliance with procedures, requirements and guidelines set forth by CECO, such as HIPAA,

·      Perform other duties as assigned.
