In this role, as the maintenance technician you will display an understanding of various systems and functions including grounds, HVAC, plumbing, equipment (vehicles, bicycles, food & beverage, audio-visual, gym, etc.), and identify and take action to prevent and correct any issues. The maintenance technician is responsible for the maintenance of the entire property; interior, exterior, equipment, and facilities. 


Responsibilities

  • Keeps the maintenance office and storage closets clean, organized, and secure; ensures all spaces are clean, uncluttered, and meet or exceed workplace, fire, and health department safety standards and regulations. 
  • Complete maintenance-related tasks in guest rooms and public areas across the property. 
  • Assist with completion of the preventive maintenance checklist and complete minor repairs such as light bulbs, tightening screws, paint touch-ups (or use of Magic Eraser to remove blemishes), garbage/trash removal, keeping the property free of clutter and debris, sweeping, leaf blowing, cleaning, testing locks, assembly/installation of art, furniture, fixture or other equipment, HVAC maintenance, changing filters, testing electrical outlets, moving furniture & inspecting furniture for felting, light landscaping, testing pool chemicals, etc. 
  • Assist with pest control by keeping the property trash and spill-free, and escalating pest issues to GM/DOO. 
  • Ensure that all interior and exterior decorative components of the property are in great condition and clean. 
  • Complete all daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual checklists as assigned
  • Proactively inspect facilities to identify and quickly resolve issues. Areas include, but are not limited to: Lobby, Gym, Common Areas, Housekeeping Areas, Bar, Front Desk area, common area bathrooms, storage areas, dumpsters, and external building (roof, asphalt, stucco, courtyard, windows, etc.). 
  • Uphold the Hotel McCoy culture of kindness by being kind to guests and co-workers, all while maintaining professionalism. 
  • Perform preventive maintenance duties throughout the property and maintain related logs. 
  • Understanding of safety/emergency procedures, including knowledge of where all emergency shut-offs are located and shut-off procedures. 
  • Support other departments including, but not limited to Housekeeping, Creative, and Front Desk teams with assigned tasks, as needed. (i.e.: removal of linen, trash, and stripping rooms, delivering items to guest rooms, helping facilitate communication between departments, room service, stocking F&B items, cleanliness of kegerator and refrigeration equipment, lobby cleanliness, event preparation, etc.).


Required Qualifications 

  • Ability to perform general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples include repairing drywall, painting, and repairing doors and other building fixtures. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent judgment, reasoning, and professionalism in handling all matters. 
  • Ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing. 
  • Excellent math skills
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated maintenance/facilities experience 
  • Skilled in the use of hand and power tools
  • Excellent time-management skills


*If any certifications are required post-hire and the candidate does not possess the certification, the company will provide the candidate with a detailed description of the type of certification required and how to obtain it. The candidate will then be provided a mutually agreed upon, reasonable amount of time and resources to obtain the certification. 


Technical Skills

  • Computer proficiency (Gmail, Gchat, Forms, Slack, basic ability to read spreadsheets and documents)
  • Ability to read diagrams for furniture, art, and mechanical installations/assembly 
  • Ability to take apart machines, equipment, or devices to remove and replace defective parts
  • Knowledge of using basic hand and power tools 
  • Knowledge of general carpentry and repair


Working Conditions & Physical Effort 

  • Reaches, bends, stoops, lifts, climbs, carries, and pushes
  • Lifts and carries supplies, and cases, weighing up to 75 lbs. 
  • Essential hand/eye coordination
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior and exterior hotel, work environment
  • The noise level is moderate to high 
  • Some exposure to physical risk related to extreme temperatures and other weather conditions
  • Must use proper protective clothing when working outside
