The Role:
JCDecaux is currently seeking a Transit Systems Research Intern, who will report to the Project Manager on the Operations team and will be responsible for conducting comprehensive research and analysis on transit systems and urban street furniture, attending city and community meetings, collaborating with the project team, preparing reports and proposals, and interviewing transit riders to support project objectives in Los Angeles and Vancouver BC.

This is a part-time position working a minimum of 25 – 30 hours per week based in the Downtown Los Angeles office. JCDecaux will operate in a hybrid work model and will require interns to be in office 2 days a week.

Key Responsibilities:
Research and Analysis:
  • Conduct comprehensive research on transit systems and urban street furniture for people in Los Angeles and Vancouver BC.
  • Analyze Mobility, Heat, Sustainability data and trends related to bus shelters and street furniture for a more efficient and equitable transit system.
  • Compile and present findings to support project objectives.
  • Attend some city and community meetings and events.
Project Support:
  • Work closely with the project team to gather necessary information and documentation.
  • Contribute to the preparation of reports and proposals to secure long-term contracts with cities.
  • Interview transit riders at bus stops.
Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with team members to develop innovative solutions for urban transit and street level amenities supporting people with #Walking, #Biking, #Transit mobility projects.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to brainstorming sessions.
  • Work on Social Media strategy and Post creations.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Administrative Duties:
  • Maintain organized records of research and project documentation.
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Current enrollment in a relevant undergraduate or graduate program (e.g., Urban Planning, Public Administration, Transportation Engineering, or related fields).
  • Frequent Transit Riders are a plus
  • Spanish speaker preferable.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Familiar with CANVA, Mailchimp, and creating contact list.
