Job Purpose

The Obstetrician/Gynecologist (OB/GYN) is responsible for providing comprehensive medical services regardless of age or sex within scope of training. These services include the diagnosis, testing, treatment, monitoring, and referral of conditions including, but not limited to: pregnancy or childbirth; women’s health; reproductive, interconception, and gynecologic conditions; obstetrical and gynecological surgical procedures commensurate with scope of practice.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Full scope outpatient OB/GYN services, including, but not limited to:
  1. Provide prenatal care (limited) to pregnant women and postnatal care to mothers and infants, as appropriate.
  2. Refer patients to medical or obstetrical specialist for consultant services when necessary for patient’s well-being.
  3. Administer Family Planning services in compliance with title X Rules and Regulations/Protocols.
  4. Provide women’s health services, including reproductive health, interconception, abnormal uterine bleeding, dysmenorrhea, pelvic pain, pelvic floor disorders, incontinence, and other health care services to women, as appropriate.
  5. Perform obstetrical and gynecological surgical procedures commensurate with scope of practice and surgical competency, including office based obstetric and gynecological procedures such as colposcopy, endometrial biopsies, IUD placements, contraceptive implants, etc.
  6. Prescribe routine vaccinations within the scope of OB/GYN to immunize patient from communicable diseases.
  • Provide supervision and consultation to mid-level practitioners, less experienced physicians, medical students, resident physicians or physician extender students.
  • Collaborate and consult with other medical and non-medical personnel.
  • Diagnose, treat, and monitor diseases, disorders, and conditions.
  • Prescribe appropriate medications to treat patients in accordance with standardized procedures and company policy.
  • Educate patients on importance of treatment plans and communicate side effects and risk of medications prescribed.
  • Conduct routine check-up appointments and maintain follow up throughout patients' care.
  • Demonstrate effective and detailed written documentation skills.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service and communication with patients.
  • Able to multitask and manage assigned projects and tasks as directed.
  • Commitment to mission of CSC Health as demonstrated by with clinic involvement and engaging in healthcare community events.
  • Provider may be used in a variety of locations depending upon the need of the organization, with occasional Saturday shifts.
  • Provider must be available for consultation after-hours for specialty-related patient concerns.
  • Employees are responsible for maintaining individual certifications as required by job function or by law and provide verification and recertification when requested by management.
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree required.
  • Completion of OB/GYN Residency training.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible within three years of residency training.
  • CA Medical License and DEA Certification required.
  • Prior experience as an OB/GYN preferred.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records; Nextgen preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Chinese or Spanish is a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent independent judgment, problem-solving, analytical and collaborative skills in order to organize and prioritize multiple tasks, providing patient centered leadership and direction.
  • Must have the emotional intelligence that may include, but not limited to, patience, sensitivity and the compassion to work with patients that may be stressed, anxious, and difficult, and work with patients who face adverse social determinants of health.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong decision-making, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
  • Good organizational, leadership, and team working skills.
  • Must demonstrate detailed, effective writing/documentation and verbal skills.
  • A caring and compassionate nature when working with patients, children and their families.
