George Fox University's Office of People and Culture is looking for a highly motivated individual to serve as a Employment & Engagement Manager.


About the Job:

In a dynamic and fast-paced setting, this role is dedicated to enhancing the overall experience of a designated group of university employees across the entire employment lifecycle. We seek a successful candidate who possesses exceptional attention to detail and communication skills, coupled with a people-centric and diligent approach. The ideal candidate not only exhibits a passion for cultivating a positive employee experience but also demonstrates a strong desire to learn and grow within the role.


Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Overseeing the employee hiring, HR onboarding, and separation processes.
    • Collaborating closely with hiring managers to optimize and streamline the employee hiring process, ensuring a positive experience for applicants.
    • Executing and managing the day-to-day operational tasks associated with hiring, onboarding, and separations by overseeing the processing activities and facilitating clear communication between employees and internal stakeholders while adhering to company policies and employment law/regulations.
    • Taking a leading role in maintaining and optimizing onboarding processes, ensuring a consistent and seamless introduction for new employees.
    • Conducting thorough exit interviews to gather valuable insights, contributing to continuous improvement and employee satisfaction.
  • Providing support to Student Employees and Student Supervisors.
    • Providing training, guidance, and comprehensive support to student employee supervisors, ensuring excellence in the management of student employees.
    • Overseeing a population of student employees, ensuring the maintenance of processes and procedures that support them in maximizing co-curricular opportunities.
    • Fostering a positive and inclusive environment for student employees, contributing to their overall success within the organization.
  • Processing and Advising on Contractor Engagements.
    • Providing support for independent contractors, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations.
    • Facilitating effective processing of contractor activities to seamlessly onboarding them into our systems, and collaborating with managers on the streamlined processing of agreements.
  • Personnel Communication & Collaboration.
    • Showcasing a strong commitment to delivering exceptional employee service by promptly and professionally responding to phone calls, emails, and inquiries.
    • Fostering open communication channels to ensure a positive and transparent experience for employees, resolving queries in a timely manner.
    • Supporting training-related programs and initiatives focused on providing comprehensive care and development of our employees.
  • Delivering the Be Known promise to students, employees and others on a daily basis.
  • Managing and updating employee records with precision, ensuring accuracy and compliance with policies and relevant regulations. Maintain a streamlined and organized approach to HR data management.
  • Contributing to project-based work as needed, offering support and expertise when requested to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Demonstrating flexibility and creativity in problem-solving, ensuring a proactive and dynamic approach to serving the needs of our community.
  • Upholding a high level of integrity, discretion, and confidentiality in handling sensitive employee-related matters.
  • Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
  • By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
  • Demonstrating awareness, respect, and appreciation for diversity of culture, background, race, sex, political views, expressions of faith, etc. and works well with a variety of people.
  • Other duties as assigned.

We're looking for candidates who have:

  • A commitment to working with a diverse population of people is essential; demonstrated experience in this area is preferred.
  • Highly motivated, autonomous and proactive nature with a genuine interest in employee experience.
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality, display discretion and protect the privacy of information.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Demonstrated professional attitude and excellent customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated strong attention to detail, organizational and analytical skills in a business setting.

Preference Will be Given to Those Who Have the Following Attributes:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • At least 1-2 years of experience in Human Resources

    • Hybrid scheduling available after a training period
