The Role:

We are seeking a full-time Mechanical Engineer to join our growing team at our facility in Billerica, MA. Many complex mechanical, electrical, sensor-software and thermo-fluid systems need to interact effectively to deliver a great user experience of the ColdSnap appliance. We are looking for a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer to help develop the mechanisms of the ColdSnap appliance that, in turn, make delicious single servings of ice cream and frozen confections. The ideal candidate would be a self-starter, detail-oriented, and results oriented.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Using Solidworks, develop concepts for the ColdSnap machine's sub-systems.
  • Conduct FEA and CFD analysis to assess feasibility of designs/concepts.
  • Assist with development of manufacturing processes and supply chain.
  • Coordinate building of ColdSnap prototypes using internal and external resources.
  • Conduct functional and reliability testing.
  • Participate in technical design reviews to assess project status and design readiness.
  • Determine root cause and physics of failure analysis and provide recommended corrective/preventive actions.
  • Document and present results and insights through formal reports and reviews.
  • Manage several projects simultaneously.
  • Complete other work assignments as described by supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar degree.
  • 3 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Deep understanding of machine design. Good working knowledge of cams, gears, motors, belts, clutches, linkages, shafts and/or bearings.
  • Background in materials selection and manufacturing processes such as injection molding, sheet metal, casting, extrusion and/or CNC machining.
  • Self-motivated and results oriented approach with a demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to uphold safety standards, participate in continuous process improvement on the job, and follow best practices.
  • Willingness to take direction as needed and the drive to jump into tasks every day with a good attitude
