Purpose of Role

The Coordinator for the CHIP Center is responsible for performing administrative activities and providing comprehensive support to the CHIP Center's professional team, students, parents, faculty, staff and visitors. The Coordinator will process health records required by New York State (NYS) public health laws for the Amherst and Branch campuses and health records required for clinical experiences and study abroad experiences. The Coordinator will manage the health insurance verification process for students that are required to submit proof of insurance or enroll annually. The Coordinator will manage CHIP Center wellness programs and events that increase awareness of CHIP Center services and link campus community members with local wellness resources. The Coordinator will handle requests for information and data, maintain office supply inventory, prepare purchase requests and maintain the office websites to ensure they are current, compliant, and user-friendly. The Coordinator will provide assistance and information in support of, and response to, student wellness needs. The Coordinator will directly oversee and train student workers of the CHIP Center.

About This Opportunity

Joining our Student Affairs team, the Coordinator for the CHIP Center will be responsible for the following:

  • Act as a first-line resource for individuals contacting the CHIP Center by telephone or visitors to the CHIP Center.
  • Route incoming calls, take accurate messages and manage and distribute incoming faxes.
  • Perform administrative/office activities to support the CHIP Center's professional team.
  • Maintain office supply inventory and prepare purchase requests.
  • Maintain the office websites to ensure they are current, compliant, and user-friendly.
  • Manage and respond to email inquiries sent to the office's delegated accounts.
  • Answer, transfer and triage phone calls that come into CHIP Center.
  • Process health records related to but not limited to NYS health compliance, clinical compliance and study abroad programs.
  • Manage the health insurance verification process for students that are required to submit proof of insurance or enroll annually.
  • Handle health record requests for information and data.
  • Assist students to make informed wellness decisions and link them with support services, on and off campus.
  • Submit CARE reports for student concerns; Check in with students to assess the situation, share supportive resources and submit prolonged absence notices (PAN) to support students academically.
  • Research, network with and compile area health care providers to meet students' particular needs/requirements.
  • Plan, implement and evaluate CHIP Center wellness programs and events.
  • Maintain, research and expand partnerships with local wellness organizations that offer on campus clinics for flu shots, screenings for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and other wellness initiatives.
  • Assist with implementation and tracking of mandatory wellness education courses, required of incoming students.
  • Assist with planning bystander intervention training for student leaders.
  • Hire, onboard and supervise student workers of the CHIP Center.
  • Provide support to the Assistant Dean for Student Life and Wellness for administrative and programmatic needs.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

The Coordinator for the CHIP Center must have a minimum of an earned Bachelor's Degree (Master's Degree preferred) in Public Health, Higher Education, Education, Student Affairs, or similar areas. The Coordinator must have great attention to detail along with excellent organizational and communication skills. The Coordinator must have a strong working knowledge of student health and wellness issues as well as best practices in the field.


Total Compensation

Daemen University offers a robust total compensation package that includes:
