Position summary:

Reuben's Brews is looking for a passionate foodie that enjoys sharing their love of cooking with others. The successful candidate will be a very responsible team player who always works towards creating a wonderful guest experience. At Reuben's Brews the Sous Chef works both behind the scenes and in customer-facing, and the successful candidate will be equally adept at both.


About us:

Reuben's Brews is a family brewery that opened in 2012. We brew from the glass backwards: designing each beer with intention, unbound by constraints. We know making the extra effort is worth it. We are the most decorated brewery in Washington, have two brewhouses, two tasting rooms, and two private event spaces, and we distribute our beer predominantly in the Pacific Northwest. In 2023 we brewed 27,000 BBLs. 


The role:

This role is responsible for the following:

  • Directs food preparation and collaborates with head chef.
  • Helps in the design of food and development of SOPs
  • Produces high quality foods and including both design and overall taste.
  • Oversees and supervises kitchen staff.
  • Assists with menu planning, inventory, and management of supplies.
  • Ensures that food is top quality and that kitchen is in good condition prior to opening service.
  • Keeps stations clean and complies with food safety standards.
  • Offers suggestions and creative ideas that can improve upon the kitchen’s performance.
  • Prepares food properly and leads with example.
  • Trains new employees using SOPs
  • Orders food supplies from commissary via slack channel
  • Monitors and maintains kitchen equipment.
  • Solves problems that arise and seizes control of issues in the kitchen.
  • Serves as event chef for any events or staffed catering. Works with the events manager for detailed understanding.
  • Uses the Glass Backwards approach


The successful candidate will have:

  • 3-5 years cooking experience
