About the Role

Embark on an exciting career journey as a Battery Manufacturing Utility Mechanical Engineer in our dynamic GID Engineering team. What You Will Do 

  • Design Innovation: Collaborate with a team of experts to conceptualize, design, and develop innovative mechanical systems for cutting-edge battery manufacturing facilities. Your creativity and problem-solving skills will be crucial in optimizing system performance, efficiency, and sustainability.
  • Technical Expertise: Utilize your extensive design experience in developing detailed and accurate system designs. Your expertise will ensure seamless project coordination and collaboration. Perform QAQC review of project interim deliverable packages (30%, 60%, 90%, IFC) and ensure adherence to design standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Code Compliance: Ensure adherence to all relevant codes, standards, and regulations, including ASME, NFPA, and ASHRAE. Your knowledge of these regulations will guarantee the safety and reliability of the facilities.
  • Sustainability Integration: Integrate sustainable design principles and energy-efficient practices into your work. You will play a key role in reducing the environmental impact of our facilities and promoting sustainable manufacturing practices.
  • Teamwork and Communication:
    • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including electrical, process, and controls engineers, to deliver high-quality and integrated mechanical systems. Your strong communication skills will foster a positive and productive work environment.
    • Effectively participate in project meetings, presentations, and progress reports, effectively report issues, and provide recommendations
    • Foster positive and collaborative relationships with project engineering teams, understanding their needs and providing exceptional customer service.

What You Need

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field – Master is a PLUS
  • 5+ years of experience in design of mechanical systems for industrial facilities utility infrastructure
  • Extensive working experience in large-scale, high-volume and high-tech manufacturing facilities with heavy process infrastructure and clean space manufacturing, including new or retooling projects
  • Extensive knowledge of mechanical systems design, dry systems (HVAC, CR/DR mechanical systems) and/or wet systems (process distribution piping, air compressors and dryers, vacuum systems, pumps, heat exchangers, pure water, process chilled and hot water, and nitrogen generation)
  • Working knowledge of applicable design guides and standards related to utility systems (local building codes, ASME, NFPA, ANSI, ASHRAE, etc.)
  • Experience in system modeling using Pipe Flo or other simulation software is a plus
  • Experience with CFD analysis is a plus
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills and an aptitude for learning quickly
  • Understands and follows all standards of IATF16949 and VDA 6.3 quality standards. (training and awareness will be provided for those who are not familiar with these standards)
  • Understands and follows all standards of ISO14001 environmental standards. (training and awareness will be provided for those who are not familiar with these standards)
