Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our team at our Skilled Nursing Facility. The COTA will work under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist to provide rehabilitative services to residents with physical, cognitive, and psychosocial challenges. The ideal candidate will be compassionate, patient-centered, and committed to promoting independence and improving the quality of life for our residents.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Evaluation and Treatment:
- Assist in conducting initial evaluations and ongoing assessments of residents' functional abilities.
- Implement individualized treatment plans developed by the Occupational Therapist to address residents' goals and needs.
- Provide therapeutic interventions to improve residents' mobility, strength, coordination, and activities of daily living (ADLs).
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of treatment sessions, progress notes, and resident outcomes.
- Communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care and collaboration in resident treatment plans.
Patient and Family Education:
- Educate residents and their families on therapeutic exercises, adaptive techniques, and strategies to enhance independence and safety.
- Provide training on the use of assistive devices and equipment as appropriate.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize resident care.
- Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and discharge planning as needed.
Compliance and Quality Assurance:
- Adhere to regulatory guidelines and facility policies and procedures related to occupational therapy services.
- Contribute to quality assurance initiatives and performance improvement activities within the therapy department.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
- Current certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA).
- State licensure or eligibility for licensure as a COTA.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Compassionate approach to resident care.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
