Are you eager to provide excellent customer service to our neighbors who face food insecurity as well as medical challenges? About Second Harvest

Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida is a member of Feeding America – the largest charitable domestic hunger-relief organization in the United States. SHFBCF secures and distributes food and grocery products to approximately 700 local nonprofit feeding programs throughout Central Florida. Last year, with the help of food and financial donors, volunteers and a caring, committed community, the food bank has distributed enough food for 81 million meals to partner programs such as food pantries, soup kitchens, women’s shelters, senior centers, day care centers and Kids Cafes. In addition, Second Harvest’s 16-week culinary training program teaches foodservice-based technical, life and employability skills to economically hard-pressed adults. Second Harvest is distributing enough food to feed 66,000 people a day. To learn more about SHFBCF, visit www.FeedHopeNow.org.

Department Summary: Health & Hunger

Second Harvest created the Health & Hunger Task Force in 2016 to identify opportunities for the food bank and healthcare organizations to affect the health of Central Floridians facing hunger collaboratively and measurably by using food is medicine. Since then, Second Harvest has developed a spectrum of care focused on policies, systems, and environments supporting neighbors experiencing diet-related chronic illness. Health and Hunger provides nutrition education in the community, increases neighbor access to nutrient dense foods through a nutritious pantry network, evaluates and ranks the food available to partner pantries and provides education and technical support for food insecurity screening with health care partners.
