Job DescriptionJob DescriptionThe Data Visualization Analyst will work as a member of the Availability and Operations Team. This role will be part of a small team working on Tech Debt which is responsible for collecting, visualizing, process, and reporting on our application portfolio. They will understand the executive direction to analyze and evaluate Tech Debt and apply data engineering and systems engineering principles to create outputs that facilitate investment in paying down technical debt and prioritizing those investments. In the long term, they will work with the company's suppliers to design, select, and implement process and technology improvements that create a cycle of continuous evaluation of technical debt. This role will understand the current application portfolio management practices and CMDB processes to develop strategies for a long-term Tech Debt management program.Responsibilities:
  • Utilizes expertise in data analysis to collect and analyze Tech Debt data collected.
  • Utilizes expertise in data visualization to create widgets, graphs, charts, tables, etc. for dashboards and reports as assigned.
  • Facilitates the creation of executive-level presentations and reports based on the assigned criteria and templates.
  • Facilitates data collection by working with application "owners" who are responsible for filling-in questionnaires in Smartsheet and other tools. Validates that the overall data collection effort is progressing on schedule.
  • Partners with others working on the Tech Debt program to evaluate and select tools and methods for automating the collection of data needed about Tech Debt and automating the creation of the needed artifacts.
  • Partners with the members of the Tech Debt program to determine process enhancements that create efficiencies to collect and main the data needed about Tech Debt.
  • Recommends processes, policies, and tools that enhance the organization's Tech Debt stance.
  • Regularly reports to management and executive leadership.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or similar field or related work experience.
  • 5+ years' experience in Data Analysis in an enterprise-scale environment.
  • Proven experience with Smartsheet, including managing master data, creating & editing sheet views for others to interact with the data, and creating & editing dashboards with widgets and other advanced visualizations.
  • Proven experience importing, exporting, and syncing data from a variety of sources in CSV, XLSX, and other formats.
  • Proven experience in creating report-outs using data visualization platforms as well as presentation tools such as PowerPoint and Keynote.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with application "owners" to communicate the current technical debt program and facilitate their participation within established deadlines.
  • Familiarity with Technical Debt, it's causes, and strategies for classifying and prioritizing it.
  • Familiarity with other data visualization tools, particularly PowerBI and Tableau.
  • Ability to work independently and take accountability for tasks that require influencing individuals at all levels to invest in technical debt analysis and prioritization.

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Participate in OrangePeople monthly team meetings, and participate in team-building efforts.
  • Contribute to OrangePeople technical discussions, peer reviews, etc.
  • Contribute content and collaborate via the OP-Wiki/Knowledge Base.
  • Provide status reports to OP Account Management as requested.
