The YWCA Greater Harrisburg is actively hiring a full-time Emergency Shelter Advocate & Case Manager to join our team in The Violence Intervention and Prevention Department. This position provides immediate interventions and supportive services for those fleeing domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. The Emergency Shelter Advocate & Case Manager will also provide support to the transitional housing program and residents, offering supportive services and time-limited interventions. 

Position Details: 

  • Location: Perry County Office, New Bloomfield
  • Hours: 37.5 hour work week; Sunday-Thursday, 10am-6pm
  • Salary: up to $21/hr depending on experience

Successful Candidates Will Have:

  • Ability to work independently, utilizing sound judgment and following departmental procedures to respond to crisis clients in a professional manner
  • Ability to balance assigned tasks and priorities on a daily basis
  • Advanced communication skills (written and verbal), proven de-escalation skills, interpersonal skills and time management skills
  • Prior experience providing one-on-one supportive services and/or case management to those in crisis or with trauma histories
  • Knowledge of Perry County resources and services a MUST
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel)
Position Requirements: 
  • Associate's degree in human services or related field with prior-related work experience; Bachelor's degree preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
  • Valid driver's license, clean driving history and reliable personal vehicle. Proof of insurability may also be required.
  • Current FBI, criminal and child abuse clearances or the ability to obtain required.
