Lead Mechanic

  • Oversee the repair and maintenance of the company fleet of vehicles and equipment, this is accomplished by:
    • Adhering to regular preventative maintenance schedules
    • Regular inspections of vehicles, trailers and equipment to catch and repair issues
    • Maintaining the software utilized to track repairs and inventory
    • Training employees on proper use of equipment to prevent ongoing issues
    • Diagnose and repair to original operating condition
    • Fabrication of various parts to meet the needs of the application
      • Fabrication using, various metals, wood, plastic or other materials
    • Welding of metal that has become broken or damaged
    • Diagnose and repair electrical issues
    • Production and replacement of hydraulic hoses
    • Maintain a clean and organized shop
    • Standardize procedures to make the shop run more efficiently
    • Ensure that staff is always working in the safest way possible with proper PPE
    • Maintain inventory of commonly used supplies to prevent delivery delays
    • Training staff to further knowledge of repair, maintenance and operation
    • Other duties as assigned
  • Reports to:
    • Operations Manager
  • Direct Reports:
    • Shop staff
  • The work environment will consist of:
    • Outdoor work in the seasonal elements
      • Moderate to high heat
      • Occasional rain
      • Snow in the winter
    • Occasional loud noises with equipment use
      • Hearing protection provided and required
    • Presence of airborne debris
      • Eye protection provided and required
      • Respiratory protection provided and required
    • Potential hazards associated with utilizing power tools and heavy equipment
    • Working within a shop setting
  • Working Days and Hours:
    • Monday through Friday
      • Saturdays as needed
    • 7am to 6pm
      • Later as needed due to weather and deadlines
    • Will work rotating shift with other shop staff during snow removal
      • Hours may include overnight and weekends
  • Qualifications:
    • Inventory Management
    • Valid drivers License (Required)
    • Detail oriented
    • Motivated, self driven
    • Experience running heavy equipment (Preferred)
    • Ability to plan and coordinate along with team for efficient movement throughout day
    • Knowledge of various vehicle and equipment systems
    • Management within a shop setting
    • Previous knowledge of electrical systems including diagnosis and repair
    • Ability to prioritize and delegate based on immediate needs and situations
