IBH Addiction Recovery, founded in 1970, is a highly effective nonprofit organization and leading provider of drug and alcohol addiction treatment in Summit County. We provide evidence-based services including Residential Treatment, Day Treatment, Outpatient Programs, Aftercare support, and Recovery Housing, complemented by spiritual guidance, all intended to offer persons with alcohol and drug addiction, including those with a co-occurring mental health disorder, the opportunity to restore hope and gain skills for a lifetime of sobriety.
At IBH Addiction Recovery, we build our treatment philosophy around four core values: Dignity, Community, Stewardship (Outcomes), and Spirituality. We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Medical Assistant to help us meet the individualized needs of people in recovery and uphold those values.
Job Summary:
The Medical Assistant supports the health services team in providing care to individuals with substance use disorder by assisting with basic medical tasks, client intake, administering medications per the medical director’s orders, and gathering medical history.
Essential Job Duties:
- Assists with performing client intake and screening by gathering health information, collecting samples, performing drug screens, and documenting client care.
- Verifies and updates client information in the electronic health records system.
- Administers specific medications under direction of medical director.
- Assist providers with procedures.
- Provides education to clients about Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) maintenance and side effects.
- Maintains equipment and medical supplies, including reordering, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting.
- Maintains examination areas.
- Maintains client confidentiality.

- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to collect samples and perform tests.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, providers, and other staff.
- Ability to learn computer and application skills including updating electronic health records.

Educational/Experience Requirements
- Completion of an approved Medical Assistant Program.
- CPR and First Aid certification (must be obtained no later than the end of the 90-day probationary period or whenever the class is first offered; whichever comes first).
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a primary care client setting required; 1-2 years of experience in the addiction treatment field preferred.
Physical Demands
This position may require extended periods of standing, walking, or sitting and may occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and general hours of work and days are Monday through Friday during IBH Addiction Recovery’s business hours. This position may require evening, weekend, and/or holiday hours.
Work Environment
This job operates in a healthcare setting. This role requires regular walking to various locations within the agency so as the employee is occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
Supervisory Responsibility
None.
