The family-friendly terrain at Saskadena Six Ski Area (formerly Suicide 6) sets the tone for a classic winter ski day in the mountains, with gentle terrain perfectly suited for beginners. Saskadena Six welcomes both skiers and snowboarders to its downhill slopes and a terrain park. There are 2 lifts servicing 28 trails ー 30% rated as beginner terrain, 40% as intermediate and 30% as advanced ー with the longest run spanning a distance of 5,280 feet. Rentals, repairs, lessons and a cozy base lodge are all available on-site.

Create your own Legacy with the Woodstock Inn & Resort and Saskadena Six Ski Area. We are seeking a Ski & Ride School Director.

The Ski & Ride School Director will manage all aspects of the Snow Sports School division, including but not limited to operations, planning, program development, staffing, and payroll. The Director is responsible for maintaining all local school group programs, specialty offerings, private and semi-private lesson bookings, and for hiring, training, and mentoring the instructors involved in these programs. The Director will serve as the primary liaison for guest services for lesson participants and as the coordinating body for all collaborative partnerships including the Ski Runners program, high school race teams, and other visiting programs. Seasonal position, approximately November 2024-March 2025.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Utilize networks to recruit, hire, and train ski and snowboard instructors
  • Manage all aspects of day-to-day operations including instructor scheduling, lesson assignments, and on-snow lineups
  • Collaboratively plan and implement all seasonal school-group programs including staffing, lesson groupings, and ongoing communication with chaperones and parents
  • Develop Snow Sports School programming for children and adults as well as provide input on pricing and business strategy
  • Responsible for the development and training programs for ski/snowboard instructors
  • Oversee the supervision, coaching, mentoring, and appraisal of instructors and Snow Sports administrative team
  • Develop a team-oriented culture where all members feel welcome, valued, respected, and motivated to contribute to the overall success of the school
  • Collaborate actively with the Rentals, Patrol, Lifts, and Snowmaking departments to offer the best and most seamless on-snow product for lesson participants
  • Maintain a safe working environment for all team members

Secondary responsibilities:

  • Identify and develop any potential partnership opportunities that create a positive guest experience and potential revenue
  • Optimize relationships with key partners and provide them with a strong direction for best outcomes
  • Evaluate new revenue opportunities related to the snow sports school, events, activities, and guest experiences & expectations
  • Seek out creative ways to continue to elevate the on-snow product and program offerings

Qualifications:

  • PSIA/AASI ski or snowboard certification - Level II and/or equivalent experience
  • 3 years or more of previous Snowsports management experience preferred
  • Additional experience including freestyle, racing, or children’s specialist preferred
  • Ability to confidently and efficiently ski or snowboard all trails, participate in all activities at the Resort, and be able to access the entire property on and off skis or snowboard
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to work on multiple tasks in a timely and professional manner
  • Detail oriented, and confidently able to navigate basic computer functions
  • Ability to work outdoors in all conditions for extended periods of time
