Purpose of Position

The position will oversee production in the welding fabrication department. This person will need to have strong skills in the following areas: problem solving, math, building/construction, welding, reading blueprints, organization, and leading a team. This person must have a great attitude and a strong desire to work in a shop environment. This person will coordinate with the Production Manager and other department leads to ensure customer expectations and due dates are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ability to lead fabrication team and work well with all departments
  • Work safely and promote safety
  • Complete custom fabrication and assembly
  • Assist sales and project manager by providing fabrication and design ideas or options
  • Review all CAD drawings/ blueprints
  • Ability to conceptualize in three dimensions
  • Oversee CNC, lathe, upcut saws and other machinery in the weld shop
  • Develop, implement and follow quality control standards including completing Welding Department check off sheets
  • Prioritize and assign jobs to Welding team based on experience, skill level and availability
  • Coordinate training for all new hires
  • Ability to read and interpret a LF&MS job ticket
  • Ability to read, understand and pass pertinent LF&MS hiring test
  • Participate and attend meetings with Management and Team Leads
  • Special projects and team assignments as required

Minimum Training and Experience Required

  • High school diploma and post high school (preferred)
  • Welding fabrication
  • 3G Aluminum and Steel certification
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings
  • Dependable and on time everyday
  • Ability to be "hands on" to accomplish mechanical tasks
  • Experience with a variety of hands tools
  • Ability to measure accurately
  • Ability to safely lift 75-100 pounds
  • Ability to add and subtract fractions
