Join our prestigious university in Smithfield, RI as a highly experienced Director of Facilities. You will oversee all skilled mechanical trades, grounds, and environmental and custodial services, ensuring our campus remains a top-tier educational environment. Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilities Maintenance Operations: Lead and manage all aspects of facilities maintenance operations, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, structural, safety systems, and energy management.
  • Grounds and Custodial Services: Oversee grounds and custodial services to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and maintenance across all campus buildings.
  • Project Management: Develop and implement short- and long-range planning, construction, and renovation projects.
  • Maintenance Programs: Manage preventative and corrective maintenance programs, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Staff Supervision: Supervise and train staff, professionals, and management teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work culture.
  • Client Interaction: Maintain consistent client interaction, providing detail-oriented oversight of day-to-day operations and achieving excellent customer satisfaction.
  • Budget Management: Manage the budget, CAPEX planning, and financial performance of the facilities operations.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.


Requirements
  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience as a Director of Facilities in a university or campus setting, managing all skilled mechanical trades, grounds, and environmental and custodial services in a union campus environment.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, structural, safety systems, architectural, landscape, and energy management.
  • Business Acumen: Demonstrated business and financial acumen with a strong understanding of P&L management.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional communication skills and experience in contract management.
  • Leadership: Strong leadership skills with a focus on staff development and team building.
  • Certifications: Certified Facilities Manager (CFM) certification is a plus.
  • Other Requirements: Valid Driver's License required. Ability to travel as needed for the role.
