We are seeking a highly experienced Director of Facilities to join our team, overseeing all skilled mechanical trades, grounds, and environmental and custodial services at a university campus in Smithfield, RI. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in facilities management, exceptional leadership skills, and a demonstrated history of success in a union campus environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage all aspects of facilities maintenance operations, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, structural, safety systems, and energy management.
  • Oversee grounds and custodial services to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and maintenance across all campus buildings.
  • Develop and implement short- and long-range planning, construction, and renovation projects.
  • Manage preventative and corrective maintenance programs, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Supervise and train staff, professionals, and management teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work culture.
  • Maintain consistent client interaction, providing detail-oriented oversight of day-to-day operations and achieving excellent customer satisfaction.
  • Manage the budget, CAPEX planning, and financial performance of the facilities operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.


Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Director of Facilities in a university or campus setting, managing all skilled mechanical trades, grounds, and environmental and custodial services in a union campus environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, structural, safety systems, architectural, landscape, and energy management.
  • Demonstrated business and financial acumen with a strong understanding of P&L management.
  • Exceptional communication skills and experience in contract management.
  • Strong leadership skills with a focus on staff development and team building.
  • Certified Facilities Manager (CFM) certification is a plus.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Ability to travel as needed for the role.
