We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Home Health Aide (HHA) to provide high-quality, personalized care to clients including veterans in their homes or care facilities. This role involves assisting with daily living activities, medical care, and emotional support, ensuring that our veterans receive the respectful and skilled care they deserve.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Personal Care: Assist veterans with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting. Ensure that all personal care is provided with dignity and respect.
  • Health Monitoring: Monitor and record vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature, and pulse. Report any changes in the veteran’s condition to the supervising nurse or healthcare provider.
  • Medication Assistance: Help with medication reminders and assist veterans in taking their prescribed medications. Monitor for any side effects or adverse reactions and report them accordingly.
  • Mobility Support: Assist veterans with mobility, including transferring from bed to wheelchair, walking, and repositioning. Ensure safe practices to prevent falls and injuries.
  • Household Assistance: Perform light housekeeping duties, including cleaning, meal preparation, and laundry, to maintain a safe and clean environment.
  • Emotional Support: Provide companionship and emotional support to veterans, engaging them in conversations and activities that enhance their quality of life.
  • Safety: Ensure the home or facility environment is safe by addressing potential hazards and assisting with the use of any necessary medical equipment.
  • Documentation: Keep accurate records of care provided, changes in the veteran’s condition, and any incidents that occur. Document all relevant information in accordance with healthcare regulations.
  • Veteran-Centric Care: Understand and respect the unique needs and experiences of veterans. Provide care that honors their service and addresses any specific health or emotional needs they may have.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a state-approved CNA or HHA training program required.
  • Certification: Valid certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Home Health Aide (HHA) required. Certification in first aid and CPR preferred.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a healthcare or caregiving role preferred, especially with veterans or in a similar setting.
  • Skills:
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to provide compassionate, respectful care tailored to veterans’ needs.
  • Knowledge of proper caregiving techniques and safety protocols.
  • Basic understanding of medical conditions common among veterans.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to assist with mobility, including lifting and supporting veterans safely. Must be able to perform physical tasks such as standing, bending, and walking for extended periods.
  • Other Requirements: Reliable transportation if required to travel between homes or facilities. Background checks and potentially a valid driver’s license is required.

Working Conditions:

  • Work Environment: Primarily in clients' homes or veteran care facilities. May involve working alone or with family members present.
  • Hours: 9am-4pm Mon-Friday and other various shifts
