Summary of duties and responsibilities:
The primary role of a SimCom Program Manager is to ensure that for their respective program, every SimCom customer receives an outstanding training experience. In order to accomplish this the PM must have; (a) a clear understanding of the tasks associated with managing a program, and (b) the time necessary to accomplish those tasks. The following is a list of PM responsibilities and tasks. For instructors serving as PM’s, 25% of their total available time will be allocated to the PM role.
Primary duties and responsibilities:
- Content and quality of courseware and training supplements
- Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for their respective programs
- Coordinate any recommendations to improve courseware with Courseware Support and Director of Training (DOT)
- Ensure that courseware is updated as needed to reflect updates to OEM manuals
- Quality of instruction
- Conduct instructor roundtable discussion no less than once per quarter to review best practices, improve standardization, solicit program improvement ideas, and promote team building
- Periodically monitor instructors providing classroom and simulator based training to ensure the overall quality of instruction
- Periodically audit customer training records
- Mentor new instructors
- Participate in the interview process for new instructors and provide input to the DOT and Center Manager (CM)
- Reliability and capability of the training devices
- Coordinate instructor input on reliability and capability of the training devices and provide input to maintenance, DOT and CM
- Monitor the trouble report log and provide input to maintenance as needed to ensure discrepancies are resolved in a timely manner
- Serve as the functional check pilot (or provide a designated alternate) to sign off any flight characteristics related discrepancies
- Instructional capacity and instructor qualifications
- Monitor program instructional capacity and make recommendations to DOT and CM if adjustments are required
- Ensure all full-time instructors are TCE qualified when eligible
- Work with DOT and Part 135 department to qualify instructors identified for Part 135 instruction
- Assist DOT and compliance office in monitoring instructor qualifications and training requirements
