Inspector Job Description

Life Safety Inspectors play a vital role in preventing, detecting, and mitigating the impact of fires. You will perform tasks such as minor repairs and visual and functional testing on fire alarm systems in accordance with all national and local standards. In addition to your primary responsibilities, you will also assist in fostering a culture of growth and knowledge-sharing within our team. Our fire inspectors significantly contribute to public safety, property protection, and overall emergency preparedness.


Essential Duties

  • Follow and maintain highly structured inspection schedules providing inspection, testing, and performing minor service and deficiency repairs for fire alarm equipment to comply with NFPA72 standards as well as state and local codes. Note deficiencies and remedies, with customers. Complete service ticket documentation before leaving the customer site. Follow-up on corrective actions.
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation of all tests performed. Generate reports within Tech Electronics tools and ensure their on-time receipt.
  • Provide instructions to customer personnel regarding proper operation and routine inspections.
  • Maintain stock, tools, and equipment in vehicles.
  • Adhere to local, corporate, and OSHA safety policies and procedures.
  • Complete required training and certifications within the time requirements for this role.
  • Maintains an understanding of all local and national codes applicable to Tech Electronics' fire alarm systems and ensures systems adhere to applicable codes.
  • Responsible for suggesting methods to improve operations, processes, efficiency, and service to both internal and external customers.
  • Overtime and shift substitution work may be required.

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or state-recognized GED
  • 1+ years of experience with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • 1-2+ years of dispatch or customer service experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and business software systems
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree
  • Familiarity or experience with Fire Alarm, Security, or other building-integrated technologies
  • NICET I or II
  • Denver fire alarm license
