Position Purpose:

To maintain the building and grounds in a safe and secure condition, to provide the proper environment for patients/residents, families, staff and visitors.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in maintaining compliance with all local, State and Federal regulations. Report any non-compliance to supervisor or Safety Director.
  • Attend formal training/education to improve and/or advance position skills
  • Perform building maintenance including rough carpentry, painting, and dry wall and ceiling repair.
  • Perform routine grounds work including mowing, trimming, and raking, sweeping, spraying, watering, planting, and other duties as required.
  • Perform floor care through maintaining floor surfaces (polishing, waxing, repairing, extracting and cleaning).
  • Performs minor electrical, plumbing and mechanical repairs including electric bed installation, removal; carpentry, and other repairs
  • Participate in department meetings, fire drills, elopement and other disaster drills
  • Properly use, store and dispose of Hazardous, flammable and combustible chemicals and materials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Physical Plant

Qualifications:

Skill, Knowledge and Abilities:

  1. Able to read and write in English.
  2. Ability to rotate shifts and days off as required to perform assignments.
  3. Ability to maintain confidentiality of patients/residents.
  4. Emotional stability necessary to perform essential functions in patient/ resident areas.
  5. Knowledge of fire and safety codes, JCAHO requirements, state and federal regulations as related to plant operations.

Education: High School, with some vocational/technical school/apprentice training.

Licensure: Minimum - Valid Drivers License with clean driving record

Experience: Minimum – Two years related service.
