About You
As Business Systems Analyst, you will play an integral role in the production of school district and community college policy updates. You will serve as one of the administrators of Policy Online®, TASB’s application for publishing school board policy manuals. You will help improve our process and software documentation. And you will use your business and technical skills to work closely with Policy Service and IT on the redevelopment of Policy Service’s online policy updating system (OPUS), the structured writing system that organizes and produces our update and consulting projects. This is an Austin-based hybrid role. The successful candidate is required to work at our North Austin headquarters up to 3 days a week.
A Typical Day
- Collaborate with business team members to plan, execute, and perform quality control on policy updates for public education institutions.
- Collaborate with business team members to administer Policy Online and support our members.
- Collaborate with business team members to improve documentation and processes.
- Meet with business stakeholders to elicit, analyze, translate, and document business requirements.
- Develop use cases to explain requirements.
- Collaborate with development team to validate and test solutions.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Assist with the production of TASB updates to school district’s policy manuals by analyzing and modifying data, making corrections, and ensuring accuracy.
- Analyze data to determine accuracy of database tables and perform necessary research and maintenance to ensure data integrity.
- Develop documentation that is usable, maintainable, and teachable.
- Provide internal technical support to Policy and Legal Services staff for OPUS and Policy Online.
- Help plan and validate ongoing re-development of OPUS and Policy Online.
- Perform cost-benefit analyses on the impacts of proposed solutions.
- Negotiate requirements and priorities among multiple stakeholders and perspectives.
Skills For Success
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer technology, business, or related field.
- Two + years related experience.
- Experience with process mapping, change control, and process improvement preferred.
- Experience with technical writing preferred.
- Experience as a product owner preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to work independently while coordinating with team with many different functions and perspectives.
- Ability to learn advanced computer applications and ensure data quality.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Ability to validate requirements to business stakeholders and write matching user stories for developers.
- Strong writing skills.
- Working knowledge of virtual meeting software.
- Ability to analyze Word documents at the level of styles and layout preferred.
- Ability to design database queries and reports preferred.
- Ability to diagnose the reliability of a system by auditing data outputs preferred.
- Working knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) preferred.
