Hiring for: Therapist

Type of role: Full-time Fee for Service (108 Clinical hours a month)

Location: Office-based in Naugatuck, CT, OR Ansonia, CT

Qualifications: Active LPCA, MFTA, or LMSW licensure in Connecticut

Outpatient Fee for Service Rates: Provisionally licensed clinicians

  • $40 – intake, one-hour session, one-hour meeting/supervision, family sessions
  • $30 – for 45-minute sessions
  • $20 – for 30-minute sessions/supervision

(Must be licensed to practice in CT)

What you’ll do:

Under the direction of a senior member of our Clinical Team, you will perform standardized counseling/talk therapy for Stokes Counseling clients with mild to moderate mental health conditions and/or substance abuse who are referred. The provisionally licensed clinician will work to address other social needs of patients and will utilize area referral sources for needed specialty care, hospitalization, or advanced psychiatric assessments and treatments.

  • Assesses the mental and behavioral health status of referred clients with mild to moderate mental health conditions and/or substance abuse issues and Conducts standardized counseling/talk therapy sessions for Stokes Counseling clients
  • Performs intake/biopsychosocial assessments to evaluate clients' mental and behavioral health status.
  • Formulates differential diagnoses along with short-term and long-term treatment plans tailored to individual clients’ needs. 
  • Provides timely and professional counseling services to scheduled clients utilizing professional counseling industry standards.
  • Identify and refer clients with urgent mental health conditions (e.g. suicidal, homicidal, psychotic, etc.) to appropriate emergency or psychiatric treatment facilities.
  • Provides and maintains written documentation of intake, assessments, progress/contact notes, interventions, treatment plans, and termination notes within the designated time frame.
  • Maintains an understanding of how behavioral health priorities are administered under the State of Connecticut and consults with specialists and colleagues to review and participate in the care of clients.
  • Maintains appropriate documentation of clinical and counseling services, including all necessary billing information. Ensure accurate and consistent use of intake forms for all client contracts with behavioral health providers to ensure accurate billing of third-party resources. Charge copays, deductibles, co-insurance, and no-show/cancellation fees at the time of service when indicated and appropriate. 
  • Maintains and updates professional knowledge and proficiency through continuing education, staff meetings, workshops, and serving on special committees. 

What we are looking for:

  • Provisionally licensed mental health therapist in the State of Connecticut (LPCA, MFTA, or LMSW). 
  • Minimum of one year of experience conducting counseling/talk therapy sessions with diverse client populations and children. 
  • General proficiency in conducting intake assessments and formulating treatment plans.
  • Strong written communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to provide and maintain documentation within the appropriate time frames.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining the highest ethical and professional standards in clinical practice.
  • Willingness to expand specialty areas of knowledge and training. 
  • Must be a resident of CT or one of the following states: NY, NJ, MA, or NC.
