Job Summary
This position is responsible for organizing, coordinating, and managing major functions and activities related to the transportation of senior clients for fixed routes, demand response, group, and veteran transportation. The manager supervises drivers for both the HCBS and Veteran programs. Work is assigned by the Deputy Director, Senior Services who provides instructions, deadlines, priorities for routine recurring work, and specific Instructions for new, difficult, or unusual assignments.
Essential Functions
These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of spec/Re duties does not exclude them from the position.
Schedules and manages all Senior Services vehicles with HCBS, Veteran Transportation Services, and 5310 transportation as well as maintaining driver files.
Maintains daily and monthly records of clients transported, mileage, and gas/oil usage.
Monitors the collection of cost share contributions by clients for fixed route, demand, group, veteran transportation services and 5310 transportation.
Participates in and contributes to overall annual planning with the Deputy Director, Operations Manager, and other leadership team members.
Assists Operations Manager In the monthly planning of group shopping and travel trips. Maintains transportation waiting list and quarterly inspections.
Trains and cross-trains drivers and center aides in senior services transportation procedures and county transportation policies. Provides instruction for and maintains records for the Senior Services driver training program.
Monitors vehicles dally for cleanliness and proper maintenance. Prepares for and participates in transportation monitoring.
Conducts eligibility Intake for all transportation programs and maintains applicable client case records.
Reports all accidents immediately to the Deputy Director and completes accident reports.
Serves as a backup driver for fixed route, demand, group, and veteran transportation trips as needed.
Takes a lead role in conducting transportation client evaluations annually.
Participates in outreach events and festivals to promote the transportation program and Senior Services overall.
Assists drivers with developing fixed route pickup and drop off schedules. Completes monthly unit count reports in each transportation service.
Must continue applicable training to maintain a Valid CPR/First Aid/ AED and Defensive Driving certifications.
Additional Duties: Employees in this classification may be expected to perform any related duties as required by proper authority.
Knowledge, Skills. and Abilities
Knowledge of Senior Services, major county and medical facilities and related agencies. Knowledge of the geography of county roads and street addresses.
Knowledge of the general maintenance of a vehicle in regard to daily operations. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software including Word, Excel, and Teams.
Ability to communicate with and assist clients, especially physically and/ or mentally handicapped, without undue stress or pain.
Ability to assemble information and make written reports and documents in a concise, clear, and effective manner.
Ability to safely operate a large multi-person vehicle on streets and highways. Ability to work a split-shift schedule or weekend schedule, if required.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, and senior citizen clients.
Ability to lift packages, grocery items and other materials/objects weighing 30 pounds. Skill in utilizing word processing, email, and spreadsheet software applications.
Working Conditions
Work is typically performed in a vehicle or office environment. Hazardous conditions can be present in driving, performing operations and in working with a high risk population.
Minimum Qualifications
1) Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
2) Two (2) years of experience in transporting persons in a vehicle.
3) OR have a combination of education, training, and work experience that is equivalent to #1 and #2 above that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
4) Valid State of Georgia driver's license, with Satisfactory motor vehicle record (MVR) that meets driver requirements.
5) Commercial driver's license (CDL) with passenger endorsement (or obtain within first 90 days of employment).
6) Pass physical examination (if required for licensing or by program administration).
7) Eligibility to work with elders in the state of Georgia evidenced through a federal digital fingerprint background check (conducted as required by OHS regulations)
8) Valid CPR/First Aid/ AED, and Defensive Driving (or obtain within first 90 days of employment)
Preferred Qualifications
1) One (1) year of supervisory experience.
2) One (1) to five (5) years experience in senior services.
3) Certified At-risk Adult Crime Tactics Specialist (CACTS)
4) Experience in the Division of Aging Services Digital System (DDS)
5) Experience in documentation of client records, units delivered, and services provided.
