Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the daily management and supervision of the medical laboratory, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to protocols.
  • Oversee the scheduling and coordination of staff to optimize laboratory operations and meet patient care needs.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels of laboratory supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels for uninterrupted service.
  • Collaborate with the Laboratory Manager to implement and enforce laboratory policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to Medical Lab Technicians and Technologists, assisting in complex tests and procedures as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, accreditation requirements, and quality assurance programs.
  • Participate in the hiring, training, and performance evaluation of laboratory staff.
  • Stay updated with advancements in laboratory technology and recommend improvements in processes and equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or related field.
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Technologist (MT) from a recognized accrediting agency (e.g., ASCP, AMT).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Medical Lab Technician or Technologist, with supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, equipment, and quality control standards.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, solve problems, and work effectively under pressure.
  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and delivering high-quality patient care.
