ATG Innovations is seeking a Principal Network Design Engineer to provide subject matter expertise and operate as an arbitrator on design, engineering, architecture issues relating to networks, routers, switches, servers, gateways, and the security enforcing functions applied to these system and service components. This person will provide all technical, commissioning, provisioning, integration, configuration support, and highest level of technical escalations associated with all lines of business and other assets managed, owned, managed, and maintained by SBA Communications. This role is responsible for the specification and configuration of routers, gateways, controllers, Wireless head-end equipment (JMA, ADRF, Solid, etc.), wireless connectivity, and other equipment being deployed in the SBA Network.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provisioning of DAS equipment, Generators, Small Cell, Wi-Fi, and other SBA owned and managed equipment.
  • Commissioning and Acceptance of new sites, BUP, and retrofit- this includes working with vendor and other 3rd party vendors in support of the lines of business and technology
  • Working with vendors and contractors to review the activation/closeout checklist.
  • Alarm verification prior to turning the site active and into production.
  • Assist in customer Onboarding, as necessary.
  • IP Addressing of equipment and Circuits provisioning.
  • Circuits acceptance (UAT) Be available for “on call” service to provide troubleshooting for all Provisioning issues.
  • Maintain and enhance our database of records that track system configurations, equipment and serial numbers, and other engineering data related to our projects.
  • Work with Engineering and Operations personnel to develop processes and procedures around new equipment.
  • Provide reports on network uptime metrics.
  • Provide authority and direction to the process of developing technically sound operations procedures and policies within Network Operations.
  • Perform proactive analysis on network data and make recommendations for changes/enhancements to improve the customer experience.
  • Create and maintain documentation that will assist the NOC in faster identification and resolution of network troubles.
  • Assist to develop and implement a proactive network monitoring program for transport and layer 3 and 4 circuits.
  • Act as a technical advocate of Network Operations and represent operational stakeholders in RFP reviews, architecture planning, vendor onboarding, customer onboarding, and new projects.
  • Recommend and develop project plans and review them as required.
  • Establish short- and long-term goals for technical solutions and influence positive change.
  • Rapidly recognize problems or service-impacting situations that are new or without clear precedent. Find solutions and develop improvements and innovations to enhance performance.
  • Proven track record in creating concise technical procedures and documentation of technical processes and details.
  • Excellent communication skills - written, verbal, and interpersonal.
  • High level of motivation and intellectual curiosity.
  • Experience interacting with industry experts, suppliers, customers, and
  • Demonstrated ability to own projects, think big, and influence across all levels of an organization.


Required Qualifications: 

  • Education: Bachelors Degree engineering/computer science/related degree OR 10-15 years in related network experience/and or training.
  • Technical Experience:
    • Significant working experience (at least 10 years) of Network deployment for LAN / WAN,  Data Centers DAS operations, Wireless Network, Backhaul, Fiber Network, and IP Networking
    • Candidate must have a proven track record of technical leadership in at least one area of technology (e.g. DAS, Microwave, MEC’s, Data Centers, Wi-Fi, SD-WAN
    • Working knowledge of switching, routing, and transport technologies and concepts, particularly as related to Network services
    • Working knowledge of Network Security, SD-WAN, and multiple IP Routing protocols (e.g., IPsec, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, QoS, MPLS, VoIP, etc.).
    • Working knowledge of Cyber Security


Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Language: Billignueal in Englinish and Spanish


Travel: Estimated 15% domestic travel (Valid Government Issued Driver's License required)
