The basic function of the Shop Foreman is to provide the necessary leadership to plan, direct, organize, coordinate, and control the work in the fabrication shop in a timely, efficient, and cost-effective manner. The Shop Foreman will coordinate the assigned resources in such a manner that the highest quality work practicable is provided within the shortest time feasible with no safety violations or accidents and within the established budgets. He is responsible for training, supervising, guiding, monitoring the personnel, and daily inspections of the work performed.

The Shop Foreman must have the following qualifications:

  • Must have good interpersonal skills to manage the performance of personnel assigned and to foster good work habits.
  • Should have at least five years on-the-job experience in fabrication and/or installation with at least one-year experience in a supervisory or lead position.
  • Must be able to read and understand blue prints and/or layouts.
  • Must have proven knowledge of geometry and how it relates to the development of formulas and procedures to fabricate stone.
  • Basic understanding of physical properties and characteristics of stone.
  • This position requires a conscientious individual who can concentrate on detail while focusing himself and the crew on the appropriate tasks at hand.
  • Must be able to coordinate the efforts of all personnel.
  • Must be able to objectively evaluate the performance of others, and be able to hold them accountable in a constructive manner.


Responsibilities

  1. Manage workflow of jobs from office to installation
  2. Review production schedule the day prior
  3. Ensure production tickets are in order and accurate
  4. Ensure appropriate staffing at each production area
  5. Ensure scheduled tasks are marked complete in real time
  6. Perform quality control before jobs leave shop
  7. Supervise installers loading. Ensure all pieces and sinks are loaded.
  8. Manage sink inventory. Project sink usage for following week and notify office of replenishment needs.
  9. Maintain and check for sink templates.
  10. Liaise between office and shop re status of jobs for purposes of scheduling
  11. Ensure machines are cleaned and serviced. Maintain maintenance schedule for machinery.
  12. Keep up with scheduled material deliveries and ensure adequate staffing to load/unload.
  13. Responsible for checking deliveries against what was ordered for accuracy and submitting completed paperwork to office.
  14. Responsible for maintaining thorough documentation of items returned to vendors and notifying office of returns to be scheduled.
  15. Assist and oversee quality control and yard inventory.
  16. Train new employees in various positions and use of equipment
  17. Enforce and promote safety standards and compliance
